Thin Lizzy – For Those Who Love to Live Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about "Georgie Best". Lynott was a huge Manchester United supporter. Plus, Best was a womanizer and frequently in the tabloids because he was a wild partier, in addition to being one of the greatest footballers ever (the boy could kick a ball). Best was also from Northern Ireland, so it's easy to see why he would want to "get out of here", and he definitely "loved to live".

Thin Lizzy – Warrior Lyrics 16 years ago
No, HDH is right. Lynott himself said this song was written about guys like Hendrix and Morrison.

Thin Lizzy – Cowboy Song Lyrics 16 years ago
Who the hell cares where you were born? His mom was Irish and his dad was Brazilian. No English to be found. I know Americans that were born in Germany and Italy...does this make them German and Italian??? I would say no.

Anyway awesome song though. Lynott is a god.

Strung Out – Somnombulance Lyrics 16 years ago
It could just be insomnia, but I think it's more indicative of a bigger problem, like depression or bi-polar disorder. People that have those types of things have racing thoughts and in extreme cases think they are hearing and seeing things...almost like a schizo. I know this all too well unforunately.

Thin Lizzy – Got To Give It Up Lyrics 16 years ago
Pretty self explanatory. Phil Lynott wrote this about 7 years before he died. Writing about one's own demise is quite sad...but this song is such a powerful song.

Gary Moore – Out In The Fields Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about Northern Ireland and the Troubles. It's also about how so many wars/conflicts have to do with religion and race, and how stupid it all is.

The Cars – My Best Friend's Girl Lyrics 16 years ago
This would be the perfect 80s song, except it came out in 1978.

Yeah, pretty self explanatory as far as meaning.

Motörhead – The Game Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah, I agree Keeebler. I'm Irish and I'm not a drunk. What's with the stereotypes that have nothing to do with the song? I think of this as a Motorhead song first, and some wrestler's entrance theme second. That's the way it should be.

Deep Purple – Child In Time Lyrics 16 years ago
I've heard both possible meanings before I ever got an account here...that it was an anti- Vietnam war song and that it was about Gillan's daughter being shot. Is there any conclusive proof either way?

Thin Lizzy – Emerald Lyrics 16 years ago
This is about a raid, but not by Vikings. It's about Cromwell and the English taking Ireland. I believe it refers to the Sack of Wexford and the Siege of Drogheda. The last line says "they came for the emerald (Ireland) and without it they could not leave". That's my take.
