Chris Cornell – The Keeper Lyrics 13 years ago
First off, I love this song. I love the way Chris used imagery in this song. As for the meanings, it's pretty straight forward. This song was written for the movie, "Machine Gun Preacher" about Sam Childers who used to be in a biker gang and now dedicates his life to helping children in Sudan and protect them from the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army). Often times protecting them by using force himself i.e. guns and/or arms. Basically the song is about Childers not letting anything get in his way and doing whatever it takes to protect them. Great song, great story.

The Posies – Burn And Shine Lyrics 14 years ago
I really have no idea what this song is about. Some reference to Native American culture with Pemmican and Hiawatha (I googled it). Maybe some sort of bad Indian spiritual trip? The Posies are great though and more people should check them out.

It's like your marked for death from the day your born. No matter what you do, you are going to die. It's all the same in the end, no matter if you do good, or bad. In Cornell's rather depressing opinion that is.

Soundgarden – The Day I Tried to Live Lyrics 17 years ago
To me it seems like he (the narrator) just said f@#! it and one day and just went out with a very primal mentality and just did whatever he wanted, without fear of consequence and "watched the rolling heads." Then he realized he is only human and the same as everyone else, and he doesn't like that fact. After his escapade he realized that he is the same and just as bad ("liar") as his perceptions of others and he "should have stayed in bed." Almost wishing he had stayed ignorant.

Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics 17 years ago
I used to always think the lyric was, and still think it sounds like, "A mosquito, not a beatle" and I like it better that way. It makes me think it was like music for a newer generation (at the time anyways).

Soundgarden – Hand of God Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is moching religion or god. They way Chris descibes the hand makes it sound like he isn't into it. "The hand of God is thick and callous" doesn't make it sound too comforting.
