This was the B-side to the "watching the wheels" single when it came out. A friend and I used to play it on 78rpm speed to hear yoko sing like a chimpmunk --it was hysterical!!! Very silly song as it is, but speed it up and it's brilliant! |

Basically, he "found out" not to bother getting his beliefs from others, just rely on yourself to find out what is true. As Dylan said: "don't follow leaders, watch the parking meters." |

John basically re-wrote this song as "Steel and Glass" on the Walls and Bridges LP, at first saying it was about Allen Klein, but again later admiting that it was about himself. |

Yoko suffered at least two 2nd trimester miscarriages. I've also lost two babies, and this song, to me, is so clearly about trying to smile and be strong on the outside and not show the terrible pain and grief of losing a child that noone else has seen. (That even now Yoko can still be so strong after all the horrible things that have happened in her life is just amazing.) |
