| Dead cats and burning bodies hanging from poles?...I don't know what kind of fucked up halloween decorations Danzig saw when he was younger, but it makes for a great song! | |
| Alice Cooper – Love's A Loaded Gun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's possible that the narrator is in love with this woman, but she doesn't feel the same way about him, or maybe she doesn't know that he loves her. I'm always standing in the shadows, baby I watched you give yourself away I think this means that the narrator knows that he is a better man than the one that she leaves with, but there's nothing he can do about it because she doesn't know about his feelings towards her. I tried to look the other way and fake it You push me to the limits I can't take it This might mean that when she is around, the narrator acts as though he doesn't have feelings for her, but inside he is going crazy. Just a thought. I'm amazed that more people don't know this song. |

| The Band – Acadian Driftwood Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this song is telling the story of the french-speaking Acadian people who were treated as enemies during and after the Seven Years' War. The British won, and all French-speaking people were ostracized. Many of them were deported and they sailed down the East Coast of North America, finally settling in Louisiana and becoming known as "Cajuns". In this song, the narrator tells of how his family had relatives down there who had found life to be much better there. The narrator decides to move south, but once he's there he realizes that Lousiana is way too warm for him - this isn't my turf this ain't my season can't think of one good reason to remain eventually, he makes the choice to go back home - set my compass north I got winter in my blood Also, in the last verse, he says "Acadia, I am coming" ....beautiful song |

| cubbyblues nailed it. It's simply about knowing that you will be hurting if it doesn't work out, but you go for it anyway. | |
| The Band – It Makes No Difference Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Also I should note that the end of this song is one of the few times where Robbie's playing sounds really really good. Most of the time his playing doesn't really stand out, but it sure does here. | |

| I agree that neither Rick nor Richard sound their best on The Last Waltz, but Rick sounds incredible on the studio version. I have heard that Robbie often took credit for writing songs that he didn't actually write. Either way, this is a beautiful song about losing someone and knowing that you'll never see them again, but you still can't get over them and move on with your life. | |
