Nouvelle Vague – Blue Monday Lyrics 17 years ago
I didn't really take to this version - and that isn't entirely because it doesn't live up to the original. Blue Monday is just a song that couldn't (and shouldn't) be covered.

However, I really adore their version of the other New Order classic 'Bizarre Love Triangle'.

Nouvelle Vague – Making Plans for Nigel Lyrics 17 years ago
This really *is* a fantastic song. I almost can't believe the 2nd comment to be posted is almost exactly 2 years after the first!

Agree with flutterbi. Sounds like his parents are taking his future into their own hands because they "only want what's best for him".

Perhaps Nigel "not being outspoken" is what leads them to believe he is happy with their plans.

Nouvelle Vague – Love Will Tear Us Apart Lyrics 17 years ago
This potentially could have been a fantastic cover if not for the unclear lyrics in the verses - she doesn't completely sing the words, more like skims them.

New Order – Guilt Is a Useless Emotion Lyrics 18 years ago
Doitfortheteam, New Order have knack for taking simple or "easy" lyrics & making them sound brilliant & as though they have some other meaning (which they usually do)

I think is one of greatest New Order songs. The lyrics may be simple but Bernard has a way of entrancing you with his vocals. The music itself is great too. It has this somewhat dirty beat that hypnotizes you, especially that crushing sound.

New Order – Dreams Never End Lyrics 18 years ago
This song has a very Joy Div. sound to it. First time I heard it I thought it was JD & was somehow mistakenly added to a New Order cd. Static, it does sound as though Ian is haunting over this song, doesn't it? It's fantastic

spdrmnky, that is the lamest display of sarcasm i've ever seen.

This song is fantastic. I especially love Bernard's voice when he sings "I don't know what to say, you don't care anyway"

Spice Girls – 2 Become 1 Lyrics 18 years ago
You people suck /with the exception of a few. Instead of dissing the song & going on about how old the spice girls are & how they're sl*ts & whatever, how about you um, i dunno,. comment on the song! This song isn't about porno random sex. It's about 2 people in love, making love & somewhat missing eachother. As for the them being sluts, why? Wearing skimpy clothes wasn't who they were, it was just an image, it's what the media wanted. Do you think had they adopted turtle necks, long sleeved shirts & tailored pants people would have given the attention or time of day to bring them where they are today?

Yeh, I didn't think so.

The Fray – Vienna Lyrics 18 years ago
Ignore the last post, i'll repost properly.

I really see this song as being the after occurence of the song Hundred. In Hundred, Isaac is talking about having problems in the relationship, they're trying to work things out but because their just unsure on where they stand, what to say or do things are very difficult between them. Now in Vienna it seems like he's realised that the relationship needs to end. They have communication problems & one or both people can't be truly honest about their feelings thus "maybe in 5 or 10 (years) yours & mine will meet again & straighten this whole thing out".

"The day's last one-way ticket train pulls in" I think this could literally mean he's getting on the last train out for that day, or it's figurative for it being the final time he'll be leaving their relationship. The words "last" & "oneway" bear lots of importance here. He's saying it's the last time he leaves (they may have had breakups before but ended up back together) & there's no way of returning (one way ticket).

"There goes the downpour
Here goes my fare thee well"
Usually when it's starts raining - pouring in this case - it's an indication that it's time to go, therefore he has to bid her farewell to catch the train OR it could mean things have become very emotional & one or both have started crying, so he needs to say goodbye & leave before he thinks he can't do it.

"There's really no way to reach me, cos i'm already gone"
I feel like he's saying, it doesn't matter what she tries to tell him, or if she convinces him not to leave it won't matter, she won't get it through to him because he's "already gone", already made up his mind & has for a while now.

"Only so many words that we can say
Spoken upon long-distance melody"
There are so many things to be/could be said though they won't get a chance to say them.. they'll keep it inside through the time apart or think about it seperately in the 2 places they're at.

"This is my hello
This is my goodness"
His goodbye is also his hello, & his goodness is in not completely closing the door on their relationship. [Maybe in 5 or 10 yours & mine will meet again]

"This is the distance
& this is my gameface"
This is it, i'm going the distance. This is my gameface, he's trying to stay strong, just hold the pain inside & do what he needs to do.

"Is there really no way to reach me, am I already gone?"
He's questioning himself, Am I really doing this? Is it too late? I think even when we have our minds made up about a difficult decision, right before taking the first step, we stop & question it. Y'know, the old 'easier said than done'

"So this is your maverick... This is Vienna"
I've thought about this line for weeks. In a close relationship you become dependent on the other person or just used to them, so I see it as by him leaving, he's granting her independence hence "this your maverick", this is your indepedence.

"this is Vienna"
Vienna is not only a big, beautiful city, but considered to be a place to find yourself & be whatever it is you want to be. So as they seperate they'll both have the chance to find (metaphorically speaking)Vienna in themselves, i.e. figure out who they really are.

Silverchair – Miss You Love Lyrics 18 years ago
I love the different the changing tones in this song. It just emphasizes the different emotions emerging -the gentler side is the vulnerability of missing/needing someone & not knowing how to go about it. Then the angrier tone shows how much he hated or how much this significant other person aggrivated him & he has no respect for them & doesn't want to love them. He's also trying to convince himself that it'll pass or that it's just a stage he's going through "it's just a fad, part of a teen angst brigade". He's just kind of torn & doesn't know what to do or "how to handle everyday".

Could be wrong, but this is how I interpreted the song & just from the music & Dan's voice, I think it's about a suffered relationship, not about loving someone he couldn't have.

Regina Spektor – Better Lyrics 18 years ago
"If you never say your name out loud to anyone
They can never ever call you by it"

I think this can be interpreted in 2 ways, 1) Literally not saying your name aloud as to hide yourself & possibly go under the raidar & 2)as not stating your disorder/sickness, true-self & negative thoughts/feelings because there is such a social stigma about such things people let those things define who a person is, so if a person doesn't mention it & keeps it to themselves they can't be labelled by it...

"If I kiss you where it's sore, will you feel better or will you feel anything at all?" Some people's depression is so severe that they become rather detached & numb to affection so "kissing them where it's sore" in an emotional sense just doesn't help.

Overall just a beautiful sounding song.

Eurogliders – Heaven (must Be There) Lyrics 18 years ago
forgot to analyse... the narator is living a tough life, they're trying to find something better for themselves where things aren't always so hard... they havn't seen it (heaven) before but they have hope that it is there ("well it's just got to be there") which essentially is the only thing pulling them through the place they're at (more mentally than phsyically).

Eurogliders – Heaven (must Be There) Lyrics 18 years ago
This song has 2 themes to me. There's a sad "I don't wanna live anymore" vibe & an optimistic upbeat vibe.. so it's a good song for when you're feeling down & when you feel like something cool & upbeat.. I personally love the sadder side of the song, especially the Oooh's.

One of the best 80's songs out there!

Wendy Matthews – Beloved Lyrics 18 years ago
this song has a hauntingly beautiful quality about it. I think it's about losing someone & being haunted by the memories or her leaving someone else behind (through death) & dwelling in the place they lived together because she cannot leave him or the love behind even after death. "Here I am, i'm right here, how i wish you could see me dear......... put your hands around my waist, though you cannot feel my touch dear..... i'm bound forever to this house, i can never go beyond that door"

Christina Aguilera – Loving Me For Me Lyrics 18 years ago
"this isn't ordinary, he's loving me for me"

this song is amazing, it's just a pity that it is such a rare thing for someone to love you fully & completely, inside & out, despite the cracks & imperfections. Society nowadays is always striving for physical perfectiion & sadly that's what most people let define their feelings for someone else.

Next – I Still Love You Lyrics 18 years ago
I really can't believe no ones commented on this song. One of Next's best 3-4 songs.

I think the lyrics are pretty straightforward. Sometimes they fight & sometimes they disagree but he understands that relationships take work & things can't be perfect all the time so because of his love for her that he can't live without he wants to stick around & work at whatever problems may arise, no matter how difficult.
