| Ke$ha – Disgusting Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think its about her being afraid of real love and commitment, kind of like a guy. Gender role reversal FTW~ | |
| Ke$ha – This Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think The Veronicas had better vocals, but Kesha's version had more raw genuine emotion to it. Probably because she wrote it. Its a good song. | |
| Michelle Branch – I'll Always Be Right There Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'll agree that the lyrics are pretty generic stuff, but there's an emotional quality to this song that touches me. :3 | |
| Good Charlotte – Say Anything Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song makes me so sad...>< Its about two people becoming more distant in a relationship, having fights, and the feeling that you would rather have the other person say anything than to have an awkward silence, than losing the relationship. Whether friendship or love, its very relatable. |

| Placebo – Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Well, I'm not sure about an orgasm, but according to songfacts.com, the reversal of sex roles IS involved... "According to wikipedia (the sources are sited), Kate has said in an interview "I was trying to say that, really, a man and a woman, can't understand each other because we are a man and a woman. And if we could actually swap each other's roles, if we could actually be in each others place for a while, I think we'd both be very surprised! [Laughs] And I think it would be lead to a greater understanding. And really the only way I could think it could be done was either... you know, I thought a deal with the devil, you know. And I thought, 'well, no, why not a deal with God!' You know, because in a way it's so much more powerful the whole idea of asking God to make a deal with you. You see, for me it is still called "Deal With God", that was its title. But we were told that if we kept this title that it wouldn't be played in any of the religious countries, Italy wouldn't play it, France wouldn't play it, and Australia wouldn't play it! Ireland wouldn't play it, and that generally we might get it blacked purely because it had 'God' in the title." Now we all know. |

It could also just be about women who like to use men, play with their feelings, and don't get emotionally involved. Otherwise known as, ya know, sluts. |

| Pink – It's All Your Fault Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think she's comparing "being gone" "pull the trigger" (committing suicide) to breaking up with him--disappearing from the relationship. Because she's saying "I would never pull the trigger" (break up with you) "but I've cried wolf a thousand times" (threatened to). He used to be perfect for her and she loves him, which is why she's waiting for him to change and "look her way again", but she's "running out of air" (getting tired of waiting). It just seems to make the most sense that way. | |
| Ayumi Hamasaki – Endless Sorrow (English) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree about the PV; 'tis simply inspirational. This song is about broken people going through hard times, but they still walk in spite of it. Its saying that in times like these, when everyone is going through hard times like "one-winged angels", we can still make it through if we hold onto each other and help each other through. Its a great song. :3 | |
| Olivia Lufkin – Alone In Our Castle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Well, apparently the guy she liked started to have a nervous breakdown or go crazy or something; yet that was when she was finally starting to build a life for herself. She felt guilty, but she had to think what was best for herself and she was desperate to finally have a life for herself; so she left him. Thus leaving him "alone in our castle"; the little sanctuary of isolation from the world the two of them had formed; before she found a life of her own. Yet she still misses him after she left him; "I'll never feel your skin the way I did in our castle". Its a sad song about two broken people; one of them had a chance to repair, and the other didn't. So tearfully, in guilt, she left him so that she could get one last chance at a life; thus they split off in two opposite directions. ...but she still, you know, misses him. |

| Utada Hikaru – Wings (translated) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Stfu. They're honest and beautiful. Unlike most J-pop that just sounds like they're trying to copy Americans, her songs are written from her heart in a slice-of-life way, where normal people can relate to them. | |
| Snow Patrol – Chocolate Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Obviously this is about a dude who's made a mistake, and even though he enjoyed it at the time, he regrets it now and is starting to realize how much he loves this person and is a little scared by it, but will do anything for forgiveness. Its also about growing up and being new to the world, just open to new experiences. Not having much of an identity yet. But shaping into the person you'll become. I think its called 'Chocolate' because although you love eating chocolate at the time, you regret how fat they make you afterwards. xD |

| My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Its about how his father wants him and the next generation to fix everything, his generation's old mistakes, but he's 'just a man, not a hero'; but the young will still remember their parents and 'carry on' in their name. And they won't let anything stop them. | |
| Brand New – Jesus Christ Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
There's probably some of that in there too, but its undeniable that there are some questions about afterlife in here too; I don't think Jesse's totally religious at all, but he thinks about it sometimes when he thinks about death. EX. 'Jesus Christ I’m not scared to die But I’m a little bit scared of what comes after' |

ALSO. Anyway who keeps saying 'these lyrics aren't right, I hear...', shut it already. These are the official lyrics, confirmed by Brand New on their website and officially released packet who ACTUALLY WROTE THE SONG. If you don't like what the lyrics actually are, you can continue pretending in your mind that your version of them is real. But don't try to convince other people to take your word over Brand New's. -_-; |

I think Jesse clearly knows a lot about Christianity, and he believes in God/Jesus since he keeps talking to him like he's real, but he's probably not Christian himself. Why? #1, He keeps continuing to wonder what will happen to him after he dies. A major reason people become Christian is so that they don't have to fear the afterlife...but Jesse clearly does. 'Jesus Christ I’m not scared to die But I’m a little bit scared of what comes after Do I get the gold chariot Or do I float through the ceiling? Do I divide and pull apart Because my bright is too slight to hold back all my dark... This ship went down in sight of land And at the gates does Thomas ask to see my hands?' He's scared God will judge him for what's he done, or hasn't done but should've, what he's done for God. Since another Christian belief is that you can sin however many times and God will still forgive you (a.k.a. you can sin as much as you want and still get away w/it), he seems to be approaching this as a scared child who's never really known God until the hypothetical situation where he meets him at the gates, and since he was denying the whole time he was alive that would have to meet God after death, when he met him he was afraid of punishment; the wrath of a God he does not know. In further attestment to his denial: 'But I’ve had some time, O Lord, to hone my lying technique' Contributing to this, I think Jesse considers himself to be among the sinners/disbelievers of afterlife rather than the Christians in this stanza, since he seems to be almost threatening Jesus/God out of fear: 'I know you're coming for the people like me' Coming as in coming to punish/condemn to Hell, the people who have something to fear from God. This could possibly be referring to the Christians being brought back to Heaven by God when the world ends, except I think then the next lines wouldn't make sense... 'But we all got wood and nails' Threatening to nail Jesus back up on the cross, though that's really an earthly threat--more proof that Jesse counts himself among the sinners, e.g. the ones that crucified Jesus up the first time. 'And we turn out hate in factories' Kind of vague and so the specifics are up for debate, but basically the jist of it is that these many sinners are hateful and will hate Jesus/God in massive quantities if he condemns them; again, I kind of doubt God cares, but this gives off a sense of Jesse threatening God while he knows he's really powerless and afraid of him. 'And we sleep inside of this machine' Basically the sinners deny their fear of death/afterlife while they're living, a.k.a. they're asleep, trying to shut out the reality of death/fear of afterlife. Machine could represent a lot of things, e.g. earth, their own minds, the functional routines of daily living that seem much more real than death, etc. Last proof on Jesse's classification of himself as a sinner/disbeliever of afterlife: 'I know you think that I’m someone you can trust But I’m scared I’ll get scared and I swear I’ll try to nail you back up' Jesus/God is always offering compassion/salvation/w/e, but Jesse is scared of all this afterlife crap and so he'll try to 'nail him back up' in his mind so that Jesus can't come after him when he dies. |
