| Blue Öyster Cult – Vengeance (The Pact) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| No need to question the meaning of this song but I've always felt it should have benn in that scene of "Heavy Metal" along with the song HM. I think the soundtrack would have benefitted. | |

| Rage Against the Machine – Take The Power Back Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is words to live by. Mielonka: The Europ rope thing is basically saying he's not a fan of European culture even though our nation clings to it and how our culture will never reach it's potential until we fully open ourselves to other influence. Eurocentric (see Wikpedia definition below)...is referring to how our government, media, and schools(which are stongly controlled by our govt. on what and how they teach) is feeding us in a Eurocentric manner. Eurocentrism is the practice, conscious or otherwise, of placing emphasis on European (and, generally, Western) concerns, culture and values at the expense of those of other cultures. Eurocentrism is an instance of ethnocentrism, perhaps especially relevant because of its alignment with current and past real power structures in the world. Eurocentrism often involved claiming cultures that were not white or European as being such, or denying their existence at all. The source of a cultural tradition can be seen in the balance of emphasis given to various thinkers and ideas in discussing a subject. In the 1960s a reaction against the priority given to a canon of "Dead White European Males" provided a slogan which neatly sums up the charge of eurocentrism (alongside other important -centrisms). RWB disguise is our govt. pretending we are unique and diverse. Ahh, if only we could live in a land of the open-minded from across the globe where everyone thinks free and is influenced by all good things. |

| Rage Against the Machine – Know Your Enemy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yes I know my enemies They're the teachers who taught me to fight me Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite 'Teachers' is not literally schoolteachers, just anyone who tries to influence you into not thinking for yourself. 'Know Your Enemy' means exactly that. Government controlling you, society conforming you, etc. |

| Rage Against the Machine – Fistful Of Steel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
And mad boy grips the microphone Wit' a fistful of steel This line is about how someone pulling out a gun immediately becomes 'center stage' and who's 'voice' is heard. Actions speak louder than words. A .44 full of bullets Face full of pale Eyes full of empty A stare full of nails The roulette ball rolls alone on the wheel A mind full of fire And a fistful of steel This is how someone who's snapped pulling out a gun and taking the gamble of consequences. If the vibe was suicide Then you would push da button Not as sure on this but maybe a suicide bomber. But if ya bowin' down Then let me do the cuttin' Again, not sure, but likely meaning that if you chicken out of it he'd gladly slit your wrists for you and end your empty threat. |
