| The Clash – London Calling Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "'London Calling' is peppered with anti-drug lines," Joe agrees. "'Ain't got no highs except for' - hepatitis right? - 'yellowy eyes.' The 'zombies of death' were shooters. 'Draw another breath' - start living again. 'I don't want to shout but I saw you nodding out.' A lot of people were getting down on heroin at the time." | |
| The Clash – Koka Kola Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its meant to be about drugs: "Those who had the Clash filed under "political rock" assumed "Koka Kola" was an indictment of capitalist mutil-nationals. Fooled ya. "It's about cocaine," says Joe. "The other day I was thinking of Wall Street and I remembered that tune. It was all about yuppies and how they got into coke."" |
| The Clash – English Civil War (Johnny Comes Marching Home) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| erm, no, "johnny" is the same "johnny" from the original american civil war song "when johnny comes marching home", which this song is based off of... i think to say it was about johnny rotten is overanalyzing a bit | |

| The Clash – Cool Confusion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
according to joe strummer in the clash on broadway booklet, "i started to notice that stars with big egos would always swan into places, make an appearance, and swan out again, whenever we went out, we'd always be in a place for the duration". im assuming the song has somehting to do wih that. |

| The Mary Onettes – Slow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
er, i think some parts of the above lyrics are wrong... Its only you tonight Lets stay out here for a thousand years Like if we haven't learned to learn To bring out in the light (out in the light) I won't change if you won't change So I need you to fall again I won't leave if you won't leave I can't make it on my own I have a slow heart to speed up I don't need your history We won't give up with all our pasts Its a slow heart to speed up I don't want your history We won't give up with all our pasts Whats in your heart tonight? Would you let the darkness get inside? How many broken dreams can show me light? (show me the light) You know I need, I'll need more time So I want you to keep in mind That I'll be gone if you are gone I can't make it if you run I have a slow heart to speed up I don't need your history We won't give up with all our pasts Its a slow heart to speed up I don't need your history We won't give up with all our pasts I will give it back to you, now Slowly goes my heart We should never be apart Slowly goes my dreams How can we forget it all? I want to do it some more I want to feel it again If I end it with you Oh such a beautiful end Slowly goes my heart We should never be apart Slowly goes my dreams How could we forget it all? (Slowly goes my heart, Slowly goes my heart) Slowly goes my heart (Slowly goes my heart) Slowly goes my heart (Slowly goes my heart) Slowly goes my heart (Slowly goes my heart) Slowly goes my heart (Slowly goes my heart) |

| The Clash – London Calling Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| according to "the future is unwritten" [the 2007 documentary] the chorus bit was about scientists who kept saying things about climate change and how it was going to fuck up the world; some of them were saying the ice age was coming, and others were saying the sun was going to heat up the earth and the thames was goign to flood london. | |

| The Clash – All the Young Punks (New Boots and Contracts) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| yeah the first time i heard this, it reminded me a lot of "all the young dudes"; it definitely makes sense that they wrote this sort of in response | |
| Fireside – Problem (To You) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think its "turning your back at your own time" not "at your own side" | |
| Fireside – All You Had Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| people thought his name was "rocky dennis" so he wrote this song to clear things up... | |
| Jens Lekman – I Don't Know If She's Worth 900 Kronor Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ok on his official website, jens lekman said he wrote this song about a girl he liked that lived too far away so he didnt pursue the relationship. fairly obvious meaning. |
| I'm from Barcelona – Britney Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Mando Diao – San Francisco Bay Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Mando Diao – Jeanette Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| anybody know who the girl singing at the end of this song is? | |
| Mando Diao – Ringing Bells Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it soudns [to me anyways] like its about somebody, possibly a childhood friend or wahtever who is going away or they are drifting apart; it seems like this person is going in other directons, pursuiing money and their dreams and all that shit, and bjorn is telling him/her to remember time gone by or never forget his/her home, hence lines such as "Little angel fly, fly among the stars" "So who are you gonna follow Are you going out somewhere Can it be the new thing money enough" "Ringing bells in Saxton and Oakland bringing you home…" ...or maybe not... |
| Mando Diao – Ochrasy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
right, or it could be about living in a happy fantas world as a child and then being disillusioned as an adult with the problems of the real world., hence the " was dreaming 'bout times, times that are gone" bit. or this song is just about being a hippie. seeing as the music video is a bunch of hippie-esque things. |
| Mando Diao – Duel of the Dynamite Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ok this is very random but this song reminds me of "train on fire", mostly in terms of the tone and whatnot. yeah it seems pretty depressed and its very haunting so i think he's beaten... |
| Laakso – High Drama Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| uh i think its actually "im high on you and on DRAMA" not "drugs" [seeing as that makes more sense. its hard to tell... if you listen to it really loud it sounds like "high on you and on drama" | |
| Mando Diao – Misty Mountains Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| whats with the reference to "ochrasy"? especially rasing and betryaing someone? | |
| Mando Diao – Gold Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah i think "Let it all in Don't feel afraid of dying just give in let it all in tonight" is pretty representative of the song meaning. its weird because for some reason i thought he was saying "cold" not "gold" until just now... |
| Maxïmo Park – Going Missing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| paul smith said when i saw them in concert that this song was about being at the end of one's tether or rope or soemthing like that | |
| Mando Diao – She's So Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i alwys thought it was "watch those years before you grow old..." does that make a bit more sense? the ears thing is a bit random... |
| Mando Diao – She's So Lyrics | 18 years ago |
summer06: totally agree. where did you find it? i love how he says "i dont care, i dont care" well i guess the meaning is fairly apparent but whats with the "love love feels like taking a break"? |
| Laakso – Right Back At You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| its "you make sure i know that i aint you KIND" not type, btw | |
| Jens Lekman – Your Arms Around Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ok this is weird, ive heard a totally different version of this song as well, where some of the lines are different, like for an example instead of "the best comments ive ever heard oh honey you've cut off your finger i bet thats gotta hurt" it goes "the sweetest words ever spoken/ whats broken will always be fixed/ and whats fixed will always be broken" whats with that? |
| Mando Diao – White Wall Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| thats such a... random interpretation. ahah. ahah. although it actually makes sense... | |
| Mando Diao – This Dream Is Over Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think the meaning of this song is pretty obvious;the guy is in love with a girl who has "left him for another" and he doesnt want the "dream to be over" ie he doesnt want to believe that she doesnt love him anymore. "On the airport with my fingers Put together while I was praying for your lover I wasn’t keen on love at the moment I didn’t even like your modesty hairstyle But then I froze when you left me for another" so basically when they WERE together, he didnt really care that much, or he took her for granted and then when she leaves he realizes how much he needs her back although i dont udnerstnad the "praying for your lover" bit? |
| Mando Diao – You Can't Steal My Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Interpol – Slow Hands Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| ....and bamagero youre right.. paul banks is a piece of shit as a lyricist... | |
| Interpol – Slow Hands Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is a really realy retarded question but whe he says "pole dance of the stars" does he mean pole dance of stars as in strippery-poledancing of stars ie famous people, or does he mean the stars in the sky revolving around the north pole? or is it meant to be both? |
| Interpol – The Heinrich Maneuver Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| by the way, does anybody else think that this song sounds a hell of a lot angrier and very different from interpol's previous stuff? [yes that was a very random question...] | |
| Interpol – The Heinrich Maneuver Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| mm, xiagox, youre confusing the heimlich maneuver [which you use on people that are choking to get the food out of their windpipes] with that swimming/person drowning maneuver... | |
