Interpol – The Heinrich Maneuver Lyrics 18 years ago
this is a great fucking song. i love the singer's voice, it's got a haunting edge to it. there's obviously a heavy ian curtis influence there.

Iggy Pop – China Girl Lyrics 18 years ago
i just love iggy's voice so much, i can't explain it. it's really fucking amazing. so cool, so beautiful, and yet at times so wild and primal. he's a musical god.
i love both his and bowie's version, as i'm a huge bowie fan. they wrote the song together though and i think its fitting that they both had a shot at it.

The Stooges – We Will Fall Lyrics 18 years ago
i can't really think what the song could be about. i thought of drugd when hearing it to be honest. it's quite a dark song, quite haunting, different to all the other stooges' stuff.

The Stooges – Gimme Danger Lyrics 18 years ago
i agree with "gimme danger", in my opinion raw power is the best stooges album. every song is absolutely amazing, and best listened to at full volume. although all the stooges albums are fantastic, raw power is in my opinion the most consistent one, with every track being brilliant.
gimme danger is, as the others said, related to iggy's habit of getting with the dangerous women. i mean, c'mon, the reason he got into heroin was because of the cockettes, a theatre troupe from san fransisco, who introduced iggy to the drug. this is an account from tina fantusi, a 14 year old girl who was a member of the troupe, so it may not be true.

The Stooges – 1969 Lyrics 18 years ago
it also has a lot to do with the fact that music during the time was shit and boring, except the doors of course.
it talks about the fact that people were stuck in small dead-end towns with nothing to aim for, where as iggy, ron asheton and the rest of the stooges were havin a great time gettin high and having sex with hot groupies.
this was the birth of the REAL rebels, mainly jim morisson and iggy pop.

The Doors – The End Lyrics 18 years ago
i jsut love it when jim goes crazy and starts chanting "fuck, fuck, fuck me baby" etc. and his shaman dance on stage is beautiful. what a legend. yeah the band did get fired from the whiskey a go go because of this song, because the manager of the bar took jim's poetry rather offensively lol and kicked their asses outta his bar. top stuff.

The Doors – Five to One Lyrics 18 years ago
i adore the live version of this song, think it might be a rarity not sure. Its portrayed in the film "the doors" directed by oliver stone, which is a decent movie but it doesn't do the band and their music justice i'm afraid, thugh val kilmer is a good jim lol :)

anyway, in the live version, jim says halfway through the song :"you're all a bunch of fucking idiots!" and "you're all a bunch of slaves" etc. its just amazing how he can say these things and yet the fans still go wild. it was recorded close to jim's ultimate downfall and his death, and his voice is absolutely fucked throughout the song but it still sends a chill down my spine man. he is a god, he is THE god. his point is correct though, and he was a born rebel and he hated authority. he wanted the fans to know this ("what are you gonna do about it? you're all a bunch of slaves, lettin everyone push you around. what are you gonna do about it!?!?" genius.

btw chrisb1, "no one here gets out alive" is a top book, and beats "the doors" the film hands down. to finalise, the doors are legends as you all know :)

Marilyn Manson – Five To One Lyrics 18 years ago
how many fucking covers does manson have to do before he realises he needs to write some music of his own? for fucks sake, ok so he's pretty unique and his covers bring a new style to the songs, but he should just get on with it :/

The Doors – The Wasp (Texas Radio and the Big Beat) Lyrics 18 years ago
i absolutely fuckin love this song, the first time i heard it a just listened to it again straight away. i love the way that jim's voice syncs with the keyboard when he sings "I'll tell ya bout the texas radio!" amazing stuff, and it just shows how brilliant and diverse the doors were.
