New Order – Ceremony Lyrics 14 years ago
I, too, listen to this song incessantly. I love the power of the lyrics, the driving beats of the drums, and especially the guitar and bass parts. (Pretty much the whole song.)

This song is beautiful, and strikes me to the core every single time I hear it. It reminds me that we all feel similiar feelings. We're all different, but we all yearn. "Ceremony" reminds me that happier times are best remembered as happy. And the realities are always harshest when they hit deep.

I don't know you, backinburntcity. But I do know we both have a burning pain. Pushing through that pain, trying each and every day is all you can do. There are always blue skies and bright green blades of grass, you just can't always see them. Please think twice before electing to take your young life.

P.S. I was going to recommend "Bright Eyes" to you, I see you are already acquainted with Conor. If so check out "Burn Rubber." He covered it on a single. You'll find it...

Bob Dylan – If You See Her, Say Hello Lyrics 15 years ago
So kudos to Beer good, I was going to post these alternate lyrics I just discovered. He beat me to it four and a half years ago.

At any rate this is a spectacular song. I love the meanings in all the different lyrics. All the lyrics are constantly changing with time and situations. This one takes my breathe away...

"If you see her say hello, she might be in North Saigon
She left here in a hurry, I don't know what she was on
You might say that I'm in disarray and for me time's standing still
Oh I've never gotten over her, I don't think I ever will

A bright light from me I saw, a scattering of souls
Just one of them reckless situations, which nobody controls
Well, the menagerie of life rolls by, right before my eyes
And we all do the best we can, which should come as no surprise

If you're making love to her, watch it from the rear
You'll never know when I'll be back, or liable to reappear
For it's natural to dream of peace as it is for rules to break
And right now I've got not much to lose, so you'd better stay away

Sundown, silver moon, hitting on the days
My head can't understand no more, what my heart don't tolerate
Well I know she'll be back someday, of that there is no doubt
And when that moment comes Lord, give me the strength to keep her out"

I've lost someone very close to me that I was estranged from for months. She had an addiction problem and it took her life. This song and all it's manifestations (especially), speak to my soul. I loved her with all my heart but we could never be. It wasn't all her fault and it wasn't all my fault. It's just the way things were. I really wanted her to be happy in life.

Bob Dylan has pulled me through some real tough times. But, without the heartache, I wouldn't hang with Bob like I do.

Bob Dylan – Billy Lyrics 16 years ago
I love this song. The movie's awesome too, but this soundtrack stands on it's own. Apparently this was rough one for Bob to record. There are a few different takes on the album with slight lyrical variation. I like "Billy 4" myself...

There's guns across the river about to pound you
There's a lawman on your trail like to surround you
Bounty hunters are dancing all around you
Billy, they don't like you to be so free.

Camping out all night on the veranda
Walking in the streets down by the hacienda
Up to Boot Hill the like to send you
Billy, don't you turn your back on me.

There's mills inside the minds of crazy faces
Bullet holes and rifles in their cases
There is always one more notch in four more aces
Billy, and you're playing all alone.

Playing around with some sweet signorita
Into her dark chamber she will greet you
In the shadows of the maizes she will lead you
Billy, and you're going all alone.

They say that Pat Garrett's got your number
So sleep with one eye open, when you wander
Every little sound just might be thunder
Thunder from the barrel of his gun.

There's always another stranger sneaking glances
Some trigger-happy fool willing to take chances
Some old whore from San Pedro'll make advances
Advances on your spirit and your soul.

The businessmen from Taos want you to go down
So they've hired mister Garrett, he'll force you to slow down
Billy, don't let it make you feel so low down
To be hunted by the man who was your friend.

So hang on to your woman, if you got one
Remember in El Paso once you shot one
I'll be in Santa Fe about one
Billy, you've been running for so long.

Gypsy queens will play your grand finale
Way down in some Tularosa alley
Maybe in La Rio Pecas valley
Billy, you're so far away from home

Tom Waits – House Where Nobody Lives Lyrics 16 years ago
Tom Waits is amazing.

I love this song with all my heart. There's so much beauty in his music. This song is particularly profound.

Coming from someone that came from a broken home. This song is very deep for me. A happy home and family that you love very deeply, and of course love you back is the key to happiness. It is something that should be kept up and looked after and never taken for granted. That's what I think the song is about.

Tom Waits is a fucking poet. Everyone who reads this need to take a long, long listen to this groveling genius. He makes you question everything. For the love of god, please see him live if you ever have the chance...

Moby – Whispering Wind Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about unrequited love and hollow words. "Whispering Wind" being everything that was said that wasn't fulfilled. I detect an under current of addiction too. It's in the line:

"I watched your dreams as they slipped away."

Maybe I'm being to critical but I'm pretty sure. It just makes sense with the tragic undertones in this song. Obvious feelings of being crushed and/or let down. Perhaps by someone they really felt passionate feelings for.

Beautiful song and lyrics. One of my favorites from Moby.
