hell yea man.....Deftones definitely never really got the credit they deserve...but in a way that's what makes them even better. They're a diamond in the rough if you ask me and I love that. Personally, I think that would drive me to make even better music, which they have. They are one of those bands that get's better and better and better as they grow. That's a very rare thing in music. |

The best lyricist are the one's who can write songs that have no one particular meaning, but can be interpreted a trillion different ways. Maynard James Keenan, Chino, Adrian Belew (King Crimson), and Jon Anderson (Yes) come to mind. |

Reading Chino's early lyrics, I really hope he's transcended these issues....i think we can all relate though in some way or another. |

Deftones are a band that impresses me with how they can mix aggressive music and very loving yet honest lyrics. If you hear this song without knowing the lyrics, one might assume it's just about drugs, death, and the usual metal fare...but on the contrary with Deftones. They produce very moving and powerful songs with that metal undertone. My girlfriend who loves pop music even loves this song because of how powerful the lyrics are. Trust me, this is a huge deal because she can't stand metal, but she loves this song and Deftones. |

i know this song is mocking the military but holy shit look at your life how many people did you want to trust enough to put away the dagger. While you laugh dance and praise them they lie cheat and steal from you. Keep the dagger out at all times for your own good. As well as others. |

i agree with the folks who feel this is about a relationship with drugs. Anyone who has battled a drug knows how painful it can be and how the drug almost taunts you into taking it more. Then before you know it BAM nothing happens anymore. "What became of subtlety?" I know how it feels because of painkillers and yes it is something you'll get used to in other parts of life. love, friends, work. everything. but i believe maynard was talking about drugs in this song. |
