| This is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life! I haven't listened to the entire album, so I won't comment on that. However, I have the Dr. Dog cover of Heart It Races, and it's no better, no worse, it's just there (kind of chilled it out, made it all..typical, whatever mang). I much prefer the AIH version, the original, kthx. Everyone I've had sit down and listen to this song has fallen in love with it. It's good to dance to and sing along to and do all kinds of various activities to. It's really epic. I don't understand why anyone would like it. | |

The first Interpol song I ever heard. There's Paul that is so hopelessly in love with her that even the fact that she is literate amazes him and even though she continues to insult his feelings for her by continuing to play with his heart, he loves her. Then something just happens when, like heaven/everything in the world, playing with his emotions bores her and is no longer enough to please her, but at this rate there is nothing else. She moves away from him mentally, but she becomes...catatonic in a sense, where she still graces him with her presence, for years, trying to get her out of this state-talking to her about the good times (for her at least as you can see how he had felt in the past), until Paul final can no longer look at her the same way again through his tired eyes, and when she finally no longer has him, she'll get rid of herself, by way of stabbing herself in the neck... *Shrug* |

Interpol. Good every time. They are incapable of writing a truly horrible song. The meaning, well...you have the female, the actress, living on the west coast, trying to make a name for herself and in the process begins to grow fake as she gets a little fame, but she still "tries" to be faithful to her best (perhaps?) friend who lives on the other side of the country who is in some kind of love or like with her, he hears about her from her mother or cousin or something like that, he even sends her gifts from time to time, then he visits saving up all his money to get a beat up car to travel to see her, he forces the gift on her which is something she must don outwardly so he can get that little "Look what I've done hrrh hrrh" feeling and wants everyone to see him with her, she doesn't seem to happy about it-but she likes his attention and probably tells him quixotic things she doesn't mean, but he's not fully buying it, but his heart wants to, but knows the truth nonetheless, and he finally realizes what has happened between them and how negative she has grown to be so he finally decides to do something for his nerdy ole self, and as she tries do that "no don't!" he asks for his own space to experience some gratification for himself instead of worrying about her needs, but of course he's still hurting, but from now on, he's going to keep on telling her that he's not going to be her lackey anymore. Run-On Sentence power. |
