Definitely about recycling old riffs and songs. Bringing new life to something that someone else once enjoyed and loved so that someone else can enjoy it too. One's man trash is another's treasure; I don't think he's talking about literal objects. "C'mon and get it granny while it's hot You think it's trash granny but it's not" Probably refering to new music and how older generations just don't have the ear for it. |

i agree. so nostalgic yet so upbeat and sunny. might be highschool sweethearts, first loves that will always carry that love with them no matter if there's an answer on the other line. its mutual and comfortable and their both at peace with what is and what used to be. i love it. |

| I definitely think its about living for the here and now and enjoying the simple things in life (maybe this is why he says a cat could save the world - the love from a cat could make the loneliest person feel loved). I'm not sure but I'd love to read those books wetcoaster mentioned so I could possibly gain a little more insight. I think maybe this song is also about how human it is to think there's something more to look forward to and make the mistake of taking whats infront of you for granted. Chew slowly and enjoy the chicken for what it is. :) | |

| Their music has such an effect on me. I can't listen to most songs without getting shivers. This is my favorite song. There's so much weight to it. It's hard not to really feel for the guy even coming into the song knowing nothing about him or the case. It's in his voice. | |

I imagine so many different stories and scenerios when I read through the lyrics that it's hard for me to pick the one that sounds dead on. I agree with big tyme tho, I think the song is a metaphor for unprotected sex. It's the rush of being in the moment and wanting to take the risk of removing the balaclava... lol... but knowing that the ultimate consequence is not worth it. It could also be about a condom breaking? "The confidence is the balaclava I'm sure you'll baffle 'em good But the end will reek of salty cheeks And runny makeup alone" Or a father with his steady and watchful eye on his teenage daughter: "That's right, he won't let her out his sight" ... if doesn't exactly fit together for me but i think it is about teenage sex and how it's kind of like playing with fire?? ALL I KNOW IS THAT I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! I play it over and over when I drive around. Love the cow bell too btw.. lol. classic. |

| this song doesn't so much mean something to me as it makes me feel something. it feels to me like a moment similar to when you can feel the sun on your face as your walking through downtown and you're smiling thinking of someone you love. i put it on my list of songs that sound like a feeling / sound as if they existed before they were written. it's beautiful... definitely one of my favorites. david gray is a musical genious. | |

| I think it's funny how people always assume the artist is writing about themselves!! I always thought that she was singing about how naive some girls can be when they get into relationships. I think she's saying that sometimes girls can fall out of reality and into the sweet escape fantasy land where everything will be perfect and it will work out forever (tell me boy now wouldn't that be sweet?). I also think its about the games we play trying to look innocent and bad at the same time and how we can sometimes get too dependent on the guy were with. Gwen herself is a pretty independent woman so that's why I think she would be writing about what i guessed! Could be wrong tho and this is my first comment! | |
