I love this song, if only because listening to it is almost like being in an entirely different state. It also kinda reflects the way I've felt after being on strong pain medications or other medications--which is why I now try to avoid them. You feel so surreal, but in a bad way. And the medications really can be worse than what they're supposed to cure, such as antidepressants (I personally got more depressed after those suckers). |

Kind of reminds me of the Cure's "Jumping Someone Else's Train". As bad as this probably sounds, it seems almost like a song about conforming.
The subject of the song made him/herself an Average Joe, instead of keeping what was unique about them, to get them well liked. But in the back of their minds, they know that they're being kinda stupid (Left on the lights, is there somebody home), and so an observer is wondering if the real them is still there. |

I can definitely see the S&M aspect.
To me, though, this song seems about a partner who stole his/her partner's credit card because the other person was doing something like cheating on them, or someting else devastating. So to get back, s/he stole the card. "Flicking your switch" seems like an alternative phrase to "Pushing your buttons". And the part abot cocaine, to me it's almost like that person was so devastated that they turned to drugs.
I wouldn't be surprised if I'm entirely wrong though. |

I was under the impression this song was about somebody who has a high position of power that's a scumbag or something to that extent. Maybe somebody like a drug dealer or somebody who runs a prostitution chain? Or maybe Disney. XD |

I think perhaps somehow it's both about Peter Pan and Pandora's box? It always reminded me of both. The whole innocence theme fits with both. *shrug* I could definitely be off...either way, I still love the song. |

I love this song sooooo much. I'm all about free will, and to me sex is seen as taboo when it shoudln't. I mean, I'm not saying I will go and sleep with 10 men in a week, especially since I'm 15. But in no way is sex immoral or evil or whatever negative view there is on it. It's a beautiful expression of love (which has many physical and mental benefits). |

Honestly, this song may not have as much importance to me as it does others, because I'm a child of the 90's...however, I was actually under the impression that atleast part of the song was referring to the hostage crisis in Tehran in 1979. But again, I could be missing the whole meaning of the song due to my age and not having experienced that political climate first hand. Either way, I still love the song. ^^ |

At first I was pretty sure that it's a song about someone going insane. But this morning, I thought of something else...what if it's about somebody who has a fever, and that fever is causing them to go insane, they don't know if they're dying or if the world is ending (pardon the run-on sentence). When you get a high enough fever, you will go into convulsions...Either way, I think in general this song is about a person going insane and being lost in their own mind. |

To me, this song is either about how the animal fighting that goes on in some places (such as illegal dog fights), is disgusting. Or, and I think this one makes more sense, it's a metaphor for how petty conflicts between some people are.
Either way, it's a fun sounding song to me. ^^ |

Honestly...this song reminds me a bit of Satanism. Before you get any ideas, I'm not Satanist, and I barely have read up on it, so I'm not expert on it. But I'm pretty sure one of those Satanist attitudes is,"It makes you feel good, why not do it? Just don't bug me." Either way, it's a great wake-up song. :D |

I never thought about it being about low self-esteem or oppression from society, but I can certainly see it. I never thought about the lyrics too much...part of me always wondered if it was a cynical view on babies, partly because they have a picture of one in the lyric book. It could be pointing out how when you have a child enter your life, you don't focus on the things which make you you happy..the baby must come first. I'm probably wrong, but I think perhaps you could take the song that way. |

Personally, I had always thought perhaps this song was literally about a mailman who had gone postal. But some of what everybody else has to say makes sense. I can especially see the "'lower ranking' people of society being put down by the 'higher ups' of society" idea. |
