Blind Guardian – Age Of False Innocence Lyrics | 15 years ago |
So typical of humans--to get angry at the one who has the strongest proof against you. The solution to self-doubt for too many is to stand even stronger behind pre-formed convictions. Anyway, I digress. I agree with the Galileo interpretation, and congratulate Blind Guardian for once again showing how much more mature they are than DragonForce. |
Sonata Arctica – Land Of The Free Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Released September 4, 2001. The name gives away that it's about the US, but I doubt it's Bush-bashing already. (If it was, then Tony has my deep respect for seeing so early what took so many so long to see). |
Skyclad – Sins Of Emission Lyrics | 15 years ago |
We are just animals who try to cover up our animal instincts with society. Sexual temptation is enough to make us abandon our facade. Can't say I agree completely with that, but the lyrics are well-written, as usual. |
Skyclad – Inequality Street Lyrics | 15 years ago |
That's correct, it is "least." I'm not sure if I agree with that line 100%--though I do agree with the opposite, that those who receive most deserve it the least. As a highly unsuccessful band for many years, Skyclad lyrics about poverty and even hunger are written from personal experience. |
Skyclad – Penny Dreadful Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Interesting info about the penny dreadfuls. I think the meaning of this song is pretty clear. There are a couple moments typical of Skyclad lyrics I especially like: "Painted faces in a circus": The Face and Circus were two rock magazines at the time this song was written. "I'd rather be called sour and bitter / Than be deemed the flavor of the week." |

That's an... interesting interpretation. Better than anything I can do. |
Sonata Arctica – My Land Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Tony's English isn't always perfect. I think "my land" means "my world." Or else it's an intentional modification of "my world." Either way, I don't think there's a conflict with the interpretation of wanting to get back his ex. I originally thought this song was about a person who gets fed up with the world, so he retreats to some fantasy world--but then, even that is torn down. This convinces him to try to get his life in order: "My old land is but a pile of sand Cold and bare but something still is there I am here to claim my land You can't keep me away forever" Right now, that interpretation and the seeking-out-an-ex interpretation are struggling for dominance in my head. Neither one, though, makes much sense with the chorus. |
Sonata Arctica – Kingdom For A Heart Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Not that it matters at all, but Sweden's national encyclopedia says that Finland is often considered a part of Scandinavia. Some say it is, some say it isn't. Please don't bother us with your nationalism. No one cares. |
Sonata Arctica – It Wont Fade Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The song is obviously about wolves, but the details are a little hard to figure out. It wouldn't be too surprising if the song were a metaphor. The idea that it's about Jani is an intriguing idea. Wikipedia says "In May 2007, as a result of his failure to do his mandatory civil/military service he spent one month in a Finnish prison until he decided to perform these duties, because of this he and the other members of Sonata Arctica reached an agreement that they would go their separate ways. He left the band on good terms and was then replaced by Elias Viljanen." That opens up a lot of new ways to interpret some lines. |
System of a Down – Sad Statue Lyrics | 17 years ago |
These lyrics are full of mistakes. I'm not even going to run through them all; can someone just go to SoaD's site and copy and paste? It's not that hard. I really hate it when people pick and choose lyrics to fit their interpretation, but I'm going to have to, because I really can't make sense of this entire song. So, here goes: about half of the lines in this song seem to be about being a "sportsmanlike winner" in war. It's weird, I know. "Conquest to the lover and your love to the fire Permanence UNFOLDING in the absolute Forgiveness is the ultimate sacrifice Eloquence belongs to the conqueror" I don't know what to make of the first two lines, but they mention conquest. The second two fit in quite nicely with my idea. Next: "Justified candy, brandy for the NERVES Eloquence belongs to the conqueror" Feeling justified about the bonuses war gives you ("candy") calms you down, makes you feel less evil...? "You and me will all go down in history, with a sad Statue of Liberty, and a generation that didn't agree." This sounds like it's talking about the Boomers. However, it could be a comment that every generation is remembered for protesting against the status quo. Okay, I realize that I really just covered my general thoughts about this song, rather than actually supporting my interpretation. It's a really confusing song.... |
Kansas – Dust In The Wind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song. I agree completely with what the first 8 comments said. |
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Seriously, guys, this song is not all that hard. NO, IT'S NOT ABOUT AIDS! Check your dates. He killed someone. He's going to be executed. He doesn't want to die, and he doesn't want his mama to grieve. He was probably in the mafia, judging by the use of "mama" and the opera-type part. Everything fits this interpretation except for some lines in the "opera" part, which seem pretty random no matter what. |
