Insomnium – Daughter of the Moon Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i think that this song's meaning can relate to any person who has lost in any way someone they love/loved.. the theme of this song is beatifully dreary and mournful, yet so gentle and elegant... what i love about insomnium is the way they use nature and with its wind and fading light and so on to reference how we feel. - "Trail amidst the snow-clad trees, winding is the way Sunless is the path we roam, bitter is the air we breathe Fell is the icy blast, coming from the hills Blowing through my ailing heart, wailing in the emptiness inside" "The clouds are moving heavily, across the livid sky Yonder the hues are darkening, slowly turning grey to black For the two who stray in dusk, all hope is long since gone Cruel is the winter's reign, merciless the grasp of despair" and just as the bright colours (hues) of day fades beyond the horizon into night (grey to black), he was once happy and cheerful and that faded away as the one whom he loved faded away...... for me, this song is more than just great guitar riffs and vocals accompanied by deep lyrics. Approx 5 years ago, I was extremely close to a very woman and had to leave her for reasons that are irrelevant. and this song was the song that related almost exactly to how i felt at that time. i could still picture her standing at the entrance of my verander, the lovely curvature of her body.. i remembered the her scent. gosh, it was a very difficult time for me. and yet, like in the song, this beautiful image of her was unbearable, unnattainable, and formed out of yearning and rue..... i truly did believe our love was lost forever.... which brings me to the reason for posting up a comment now after all these years. to my surprise and amazement, she has returned into my life a few days ago... which brings me back to song now..... gosh, i love insomnium... and i guess i may have never stopped loving her........ |

i could not have said it any better, padshiyangel.. their simplicity is amazing! to call Insomnium gods still wouldn't do justice to them |
Insomnium – Under the Plaintive Sky Lyrics | 14 years ago |
absolutely stunning!! this song cannot get anymore beautiful than it already is!.... this song's about two people who have committed some unthinkable sin and so have decided to leave their past way of life and venture out into the cold, open world seeking a new one.. the story of the song is quite self explanatory so there's no need for a line by line explanation. i just love the part when he whispers the words "underneath the... ...shores behind" - the gentleness and intensity of the song cannot be described more vividly at that moment. you can almost feel the emotions of these two people. Insomnium's selection of words to describe the scenery and emotion is.... god i can't even think of words to describe theirs! |
Insomnium – At The Gates Of Sleep Lyrics | 14 years ago |
yeah insomnium lyrics are beautifully and elegantly doomy.... typical melodic finnish death metal this by far has to be thee most beautiful song of this album! interesting analogy with the suicide. i was thinking it had more to do with someone who has endured so much torment and pain in his life that all he seeks is rest. death never does solve anything and i don't think insomnium portray suicide to be the key in their art. for me, this song focuses on this moment of relief and how welcoming this relief is.. when we dream we feel and experience whatever the mind wants to. for me, this moment of sleep provides this temporary cure to all his troubles and focuses on that moment just before he does fall asleep.. its rather simple but that what makes it even more stunning - Insomnium's ability to make something so beautifully powerful and intense in simplicity.... this is all just what i think anyway. |

Insomnium – Shades Of Deep Green Lyrics | 15 years ago |
there's a verse performed that isn't in those set lyrics : Now that all light has gone away. All this searching has lead astray. These journeys are filled with craving. These moments with loss. What a cruel world left for me to roam alone. What a scornful fate, took my light away. wel thats what it sounds like to me |
Dissection – Maha Kali Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i love this song! one of my fav dissection songs! anyway, about this song... The meaning is quite self explanatory. anyway...... Firstly, i am hindu. This song quite ironic really considering that the lead singer was a satanist. Maha (meaning divine mother) Kali (meaning black in tamil) is the hindu goddess (an entity of God) of war and destruction and the destroyer of evil. (so She is NOT AT ALL evil) and the hindu religion enforces that God is the Creator, Preserver and Destroyer of all things living. so, just as God created us all, He will destroy us all. i guess nodtviedt (not sure of the spelling) produced this song bcuz he knew he was going to kill himself and so he called out to Maha Kali to take him away. 'Jai Kalika Jai Kali. Kali Mata Namo Nama' sounds very similar to something out from a hindu service, or satsung. it seems like it is a Kali mantra but isn't bcuz people cannot create their own mantra. the proper Kali mantra is 'Om Sri Kalikaye Namah' mata means mother. |

Deicide – Serpents Of The Light Lyrics | 17 years ago |
hehe... well metal isn't about money! its about us, the fans! and i do too sometimes get tired of deicide, especially after hearing d scars of the crucifix album but i think they're a gr8 band with gr8 musicians! and even tho all their songs r about one thing, its still provides for gr8 reading.. well thats how i (the fan) feel! |
Samael – The Cross Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think that this song is actually anti christian. he speaks about d world issues and how much of defect it has on humanity-'harvest of love and light dictated by war and hate' these words to me are very genocidal. also he illustrates d fact that ppl will look to god for answers rather than searchin for answers themselves by askin a rhetorical question-'will u betray innovation in the name of tradition' and in the end, after speakin about how corrupt d world is, he says christianity world wide.. just as violence and corruption is world wide |
Deicide – Blame It On God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
firstly, this is an awesome song! and this song is so fuckin true! god is d reason for everything that occurs! to all those fools that say that satan is d cause for all d shit in this world, well hey god is d one who created satan so that makes satan god's responsibility.. once again, all falls on god's shoulders! 'you are the one who killed your son'-dat is so fuckin true! and we humans are no different-god will kill us all too! i also very much liked d idea of satan being d church's best friend! if there was no satan, christians wouldn't worry about their beloved christ! all d dam christians want!-for eg. "i'll pray to u jesus so that i can walk again" religion isn't about our own selfish desires and yet these pricks go door to door preachin about d wonders that jesus can do for u. christianity is d biggest load of crap ever created.. that or d ppl dat are christians r all single minded, ignorant cunts who deserve to be crucified |

heat resistant.. thats an interesting analogy.. hmm... |
In Flames – In Flames Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i agree that its more black metally.. but i also think its meaning is very diverse. i'm no satanist but i can relate to this song. for me its about someone who has had all his faith and love into someone or something else (whether it be a person or higher) only to have it crushed, destroyed. this person or higher being has abandoned or really hurt him and he has now taken it upon himself to seek strength in all of his anguish. he's torn from human emotion, left hurt etc and bcuz of this experience, he is much more strong and hardened person-less susceptible to human pains etc. i also think its awesome that the song starts of with his heart being in flames bcuz his heart is left in a completely different state from what it started off with... well thats what this song says to me. or maybe its bcuz i'm too clouded in my life's issues that i refuse to see another meaning.. :) |
