Soundgarden – Fresh Tendrils Lyrics 12 years ago
When I disagreed with you like 3 years ago, I was 3 years younger.

Which should be obvious. But with that 3 years that I've had since listening to this, I am inclined to agree. It's fucking stupid to think it's about anything else. He's using something as support and it's biting him in the ass. Shit even the word tendril is a reference to some kind of support. It's a low after coming off of a high. All there is to it.

You're completely correct and younger-me is fucking retarded.

Queens of the Stone Age – In My Head Lyrics 13 years ago
don't think so. seems more like the line is why they separate. he takes a line, they separate, he can't get her out of his head, just gets high and listens to their song. Second verse seems like an apology and them making up. Seems pretty easy to decipher to me.

Alice in Chains – Frogs Lyrics 14 years ago
Looks to me like it might be about murder.
A guy gets in a fight with another guy who used to be his friend, gets pissed off at him, see?

"What does friend mean to you?
A word so wrongfully abused
Are you like me, confused
All included but you
Alone..."

Then he goes and does drugs and gets completely fucked up and the great idea that that motherfucker should get fucked up for what he did.

"The sounds of silence often soothe
Shapes and colors shift with mood
Pupils widen and change their hue
Rapid brown avoid clear blue"

"Why's it have to be this way?" Could be when he's questioning whatever he's thinking, refusing to believe the obvious truth in front of his eyes. But he learns and blooms into something darker, more sinister. He sees something beautiful but goes into a cold cocoon.

"Flowers watched through wide brown eyes bloom
A child sings an unclaimed tune
Innocence spins cold cocoon
Grow to see the pain too soon"

He goes to confront him and ends up blowing his head off onto the wall on August 7th, and he scrapes him off the walls. He's still young, he'll live out his prison sentence. While trying to rationalize it he realizes he's still angry and decides to get high.

This is all just what I get from the song. Its fucking badass. I love it.

Chris Cornell – Steel Rain Lyrics 15 years ago
I disagree. It seems to be more about mood than a political statement. He talks about how there is him, another person and miles between them. He wants to control his emotions and let them flower into something more beautiful - like a song - rather than just let them bounce around all over the place and drowning himself in a heavy shower, something dark and depressing.

The sound of the song comes into play in the second verse to me. The contagious yawn and the slow-motion feel of the tempo just help. The sky could be any building opening up and people coming out, him seeing her standing there and time virtually stopping. And she smiles at him like everything is great in the world, even though they know that they'll be apart again soon.

Last verse - again its an "all looks well but all isn't well". I have everything I want and nothing could be better. Tilted world, which is the correct lyric, is just descriptive. The world's tilted on an axis. In fact, the little world could be different from the tilted world - the little world being a world in which he feels everything is right, but everything is wrong in the real, tilted world and he is really depressed as fuck.

Basically this song, in my opinion is about depression from being alone and even though you may have everything you could want, you're still miserable. That is it!

By the way, corporations aren't "evil entities" as you suggested, they're simply out there to try to make money. If making money is evil, quit your job.

Megadeth – Amerikhastan Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that that one guy has it right, but I don't think Mustaine has it right... all the way at least.

The problem IS the CNN's of the world. They ARE brainwashing people. They're telling people things that AREN'T true. That is something Mustaine has right.

But what they're telling us is not what he's telling us they're telling us. They're telling us that this war we're fighting is wrong. They're extremely anti-war to the point of stupidity. Sure war is bad, but sometimes there is no other option than to fight. The CNN's are anti-war to the point that they don't just want to stop the war, they want us to LOSE them b/c of George Soros' funding and ideals of anti-Americanism. Its all how it is and people better wise up or we will be living in the new and improved Soviet US. End of story.

oh.. and one more thing while I'm thinking about it - Wikipedia is NEVER - I repeat - NEVER a reliable source. It is updated by its users, the same people who always assume "Cornell's a druggy because he has long hair and played in a 90's grunge band. Thats gotta be what the song's about." Just beware of false information. Peace.

Why does everything any heavy band from the 90's writes have to be about drugs? Shame, shame, throw yourself away - doesn't that seem like something a hateful parent would say? "What the hell is wrong with you? Why don't you do me a favor and get the hell out of my life?". Seeing how Cornell seemed to maybe have had problems with his dad (taking this from his newest solo album) it could be about the way he felt when his dad talked down to him in the past? "If it sits upon your tongue or naked in your eye" - If its so close to being a complete thought you can almost say it but its not quite there or if its so blatantly obvious its right in front of you. My point is with this is look into the lyrics before assuming "OH MY GOD THIS SONG IS ABOUT DRUGS". Give Cornell more credit than that.

Creed – Are You Ready? Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the chorus is about his son. Are you ready for whats to come? His son was about to be born. His life just starts when his son is born. He's counting down to the day his son is born. (The change in life thats soon to come). Sure, it could be interpreted to be whatever you want it to be, remember who you are and don't let your fame get to you, but I think the original idea here was about his son.

Temple of the Dog – Hunger Strike Lyrics 17 years ago
I think its pretty obvious to tell the truth. "I don't mind stealin' bread from the mouths of decadence". Decadence is over-indulgence. They are saying that they don't mind taking from the rich to satisfy themselves. "but I can't feed on the powerless when my cups already overfilled" basically means that they can't take from the poor because they are already better off then those individuals. after that things seem to get a little blurry for me haha. In my opinion, its about greed... and feeling sorry for greed... I think that this is one of the greatest songs ever written, not too depressing, and not too happy. Its dramatic and living. Glad I read about Temple of the Dog on Wiki. Else I wouldn't have heard the two greatest vocalists (also in my opinion) singing together!

Alice in Chains – Angry Chair Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is all about a childhood. Like, a kid did something wrong and got put in a kind of "time out" in a chair. Maybe not even just a chair. Maybe its about punishment all together. I mean, it has a ton of things talking about a boy and things he's forced to do by an obvious superior, such as praying or working instead of playing, like he wants to. In a nutshell, I think its about overly strict parents.

Alice in Chains – Would? Lyrics 17 years ago
I personally found this song to be about falling back into a bad habit, be it drugs as some claim it to be or a undesirable lifestyle. Becoming free of something that is holding you back, but when it seems that everything is finally going right for you again, that habit comes back and becomes a reality that one does not wish to resume but is for some reason pulled back to it.
