| Andrew W.K. – Party Till You Puke Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Andrew WK is a very talented musician, but he doesn't show it in his music. The entire point of his music is to be utterly outrageous and energetic. You don't get that with Coldplay or Maroon 5, or whatever you pansies listen to. | |
| Thrice – The Flame Deluge Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is rather simple. It does not have biblical meanings to it or any of that. Perhaps allusions, yes, but meanings? Nope. Just put yourself in the perspective of the element fire (as with the ending sonnets of each CD/element). Fire, which can be used for such beneficial things, is used more for destruction than other purposes. It has been utilized by man for his own selfish purposes, as seen here: "And ever since you found your taste for war You forced me onto those whose life you'd take" Note "forced". The whole theme of it seems to be rather pacific. Fire doesn't *want* to be used as it is, but has no choice. Once unleashed, it is hard to stop. Hence, "My curse, this awful power to unmake" The rest describes the use for war... 1 "And so I hid among the smaller things 2 You found me there and ferried me above 3 The flame deluge is waiting in the wings 4 The smallest thread holds back the second flood" 1 Bombs 2 Bombers 3 Bombs in bombers in the air 4 I think that's in reference to the sermon knocloo27 mentioned. As for "And who will stand to greet the blinding light It's lonely when there's no one left to fight" Basically fire will be used eventually to destroy everything. After consuming all material in its deluge of fire, there will be nothing left, and will thus be unusable by anything or anyone. Hence the loneliness. |

| Saosin – I Can Tell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| They once said at a concert that the initial name they had was "I Can Tell There Was an Accident Here Because My Baby's Blood is Splattered on the Side of a Truck". But they decided to shorten it. Good decision guys. | |

Summer came and I lost my shoes Purple gold lids, pressed them down in the basement and if don't you know or see them clouds We'll step to the sky and wind... down Tell me what you know, tell me what we get, tell me where we go, then tell me when you come back around Calm will find your soul Tired lonely lips dragged him down to the train tracks Calm will find your soul Left them purple gold lids sitting down in the basement Calm will find your soul And if we die here will we ever be back again? Calm will find your soul Dawn was likely lined in the coming of men that shuffled slithered legs till they knew how to stand Every time I grow I know I'll never change Because the liver tree sways, but I know he'll never find me I know my problems and know where they lay Tell me what you know, tell me what we get, tell me where we go, then tell me when you come back around Calm will find your soul Tired lonely lips dragged him down to the train tracks Calm will find your soul Left them purple gold lids sitting down in the basement Calm will find your soul and if we die here will we ever be back again? Calm will find your soul Dawn was likely lined in the coming of men that shuffled slithered legs till they knew how to stand My brothers busy laughing at the end of the hall said, "That mans not a doctor if he cures no cancer" placed in the back where there are no dancers, crooked steps, diamonds, and a bag housing answers. Step to sky and wind... down Tell me what you know, tell me what we get, tell me where we go, then tell me when you come back around Calm will find your soul Tired lonely lips dragged him down to the train tracks Calm will find your soul Calm will find your soul and if we die here will we ever be back again? Calm will find your soul Dawn was likely lined in the coming of men that shuffled slithered legs till they knew how to stand |

Some minor corrections again as I hear it. == Burning the blood oil Salt sugar water pales Build me black jesus cause jesus can't save me Shackles pulling at your hair Shine me from roots out Wash me from the neck down Cut me in the fat stores Take me to the tree line I'm a heading down down down down to the river cause I don't believe in medicine I'll crawl out shaking pale Always got the answer I got ears all around me Burn up in black smoke Thick and pourin down your throat Make me of bread walks Listen up with ears we're diving Birth me of blood oil Salt sugar water pales Build me black jesus Shackles pulling at your hair I'm a written page in a giant man Never sick in bed, so I'll never need their medicine I'm a headin down down down down to the river cause I don't believe in medicine I'll crawl out shakin pale always got the answer I got ears all around me Tell your children we got another year comin Oil stands the legs this body speaks in tongues and croaks "I'm heading down" I'll walk down to the river where we met our pails Filled and spillin like our southern friends Met that pail atop the rocks and moss Grass grips licks about our heels and bends I'm a heading down down down down to the river cause I don't believe in medicine When I crawl out I'll be shakin dirt Never need the answer I got hands all around me Tell your children we got another year comin Oil stands the legs this body speaks in tongues and croaks "I'm heading down" Tell your children we spent a year in this fire Copper bands and hells getting lighter Line up in lines we can only get higher Tell your children we got another year coming == I changed the first part because I hear him say "Burning the blood oil" more than "Birth me of blood oil" (although it's clear he says that later on." Also I changed "pales" to "pails", because in the second line of that verse, it talks about filling and spilling. Oh, and there was a line missing in there, "the I'm a written page" part. As for interpretation, I'm thinking it has to do with oil in Alaska. Or just the people that work oil drills. |

Just some minor corrections (removal of some unsung words, etc). Great job on getting the lyrics down. Couldn't figure out what they were singing >< == Claims, they crawled from those clouds, over mountains cried into the streams where they ran the length of past and time that called out with their hands beside you as all the people shouted up to the "northern" territories My, they glowed like a bug burning at the ends of shade covered crowns whose only words were wicked mumbles shake unstable manners brought these thoughts about you lights up like flies and ants that dip about and aim to to swallow us up like the bread baked gums Now I remain glowing at the ends I remain glowing at the ends It's because it's you they've became Shade drifts around, southern where the sheets are growing ash and steeple factories old boy you'll never know just what they think, it never finds you cheap work finding pockets only when we're aimed to to swallow them up like the bread baked gums Now I remain glowing at the ends I remain glowing at the ends It's because it's you they've became These lights were waves that spilled through my space (in the plains) Where no one knows if they'll ever need again (I want to) These lights were waves that spilled through my space (in the plains) Where no one knows if they'll ever need again (I want to) (come and get and take me home) == I can't begin to interpret this. |

Anthony said the original name of the song was: "I Can Tell There Was An Accident Here Earlier Because My Baby's Blood is Splattered on the Side of a Truck". They obviously couldn't have that as a song title, so they shrunk it down. (I'm serious, he said it at a show.) |

CORRECTION: I hope you don't see a thing Smile through everyone you ever see (So what you gave him the time of day) Twist back and end this suffering I'll dance around, I honestly give up and --hang the rope-- I'm pretty sure he says that instead of "and I de robe." |

| Thursday – Jet Black New Year Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Forgot to mention what I thought about it! Because I'm sure you were all waiting for it :) The entire countdown is amazing. I picture it all in slow motion, a man (from the first person PoV) falling off the top of a building. Each number is a floor going down, watching the windows and thinking in an almost stream of conscience. Around "Forever, forever..." I just think of the man slowing down even more, before he hits. The "Three cheers to the mirror, now there's two of us!" is a puddle on the ground that he sees the moment before he hits, and "Can we have one last dance?" is him just waiting to hit it. Very powerful song. |

This song was written back when Thursday had seriously considered breaking up. They were on the label Victory Records at the time, and they were making them do things they didn't want to do, try to merch things they didn't even like. It got to a point where they thought that breaking up would be the best for them all. They had one more release on their contract, so they just released an EP, with this. Each member of the band wrote his own section of the song, and it was all combined together. If you look, you can sort of pick apart the difference in authors. Nevertheless, this song was a smash-hit in the Thursday community. This song can be attributed to the prosperity Thursday is in now, for without it, there might be no Thursday anymore. |

| Thursday – Arc-Lamps, Signal Flares, a Shower of White (The Light) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| They recorded this song live in the studio (as in not instrument by instrument, but 5 instruments in the studio at once just playing a hard draft - - explained in the podcast). Great instrumental altogether, makes you think and imagine. | |
| Thursday – War All The Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The 9/11 stuff is nonsense. Oi. Must everything that involves a "New York Skyline" and a mention of an American flag be involved with 9/11? I've seen people say it to songs written over 10 years before 9/11, yet they were still somehow "alluding to it". Anyhoo, there was a time in his life (or so I've heard) where New Brunswick was just an absolute hellhole (of which it still is). Kids either grew up to sell drugs or were killed by age 18. Thursday's way out was music, and thank god for that. But the whole situation was maddening. Kids would kill themselves just to get away from the hell on earth, which would promote more suicide. New Brunswick was the battlefield, the place where violence was an every day struggle. That's the war he is speaking of. The war against the streets. Hell, his girlfriend was raped within 2 weeks of moving there (as heard in Dying in New Brunswick). I was at a show once where he could barely finish the song; he was basically in tears. It's such a personal and moving song. That is why Thursday is one of the greatest bands of all time, the lyrics are personal, not simply manufactured for a sound. |

| Thursday – At This Velocity Lyrics | 19 years ago |

According to Geoff, they were with a band called Poison on their way into Australia. "Some terrible movie was on, Second.. Second-Hand Lions, that was it, with that kid that butchers every script he's given [Haley Joel Osment]." Then all of a sudden, the plane lost extreme altitude, and "I just couldn't believe that was the last movie I was ever going to see." The quotes are prolly off, saw em on the Warped a little while ago. But that's basically what he said, that Haley Joel Osment sucks. Oh, that and they almost died. Amazing song. === "...just a bunch of chaos." No kidding; 'twas the point. |

Ohhhhhh, oh oh ohh ohh The horse has been taken Runs clubs in the pasture Burn this burn this burn this fucker down down down Burn this mother fucker down Please, please speak up I can't hear with these clouds in my ears Ooohh ooh ooh ooh ooh They're singing... ooohh ooh ooh ooh They're singing... Systems are tied, we'll get through Send money for the catepillars to entertain Systems are tied, we'll get through Send money for the catepillars to entertain Systems are tied, we'll get through Send money for the catepillars to entertain (Systems are gonna tie, we'll get through it all So send your money oh oh, for the catepillars to entertain) X4 ~-~-~-~-~ Nice flame getfasterer. Anyway, yes, it could be drugs, though I like where sweater was going. Besides, when did music need to have an absolute meaning? It's how we interpret it and choose to understand it (as outlandish as the meaning might seem). |

Some changes to the above lyrics, as I hear 'em. You be the judge. ==== The son went down and spoke with the last lips... They spoke of hell and things they knew they'd never miss Bridge shelter 'round the cold creek bed Breaks backs and leads eyes down Faces drag against the dirt and ears shiver in this muddy sound Where the white waves roll just once a year Arms feed the hatchet with an African appetite Matched machetes, sparkle shine Shape the small-scale guillotine I've been getting pretty sleeping in these boxes The blackened mule faces outside my door Shouting, shouting (x2) Oooohhh The club met the seal and the seal met the dog It carried the man to the end of the trail Where they, walked down the street Pavement black beneath their feet I've had a little trouble with these black glass lungs I'm dealing with the man with the gold tooth grin I've been getting pretty sleeping in these boxes The blackened mule faces outside my door Shouting, shouting (x2) Oooohhh I've been getting pretty sleeping in these boxes The blackened mule faces outside my door Shouting, shouting (x2) Oooohhh ===== On a literal sense, BlackGhost might have it, but Sk8terpunk seems to get the metaphor behind it all. |
