I think Morbid Moraq's interpretation is correct but I don't think she necessarily killed him, it just seems he died. It rather seems like people pity his wife, like it was some tradgic accident, maybe he commited suicide, maybe because she did something to him that should have made him stop loving her, but even after ending his own live because of the pain inflicted by her, he still loves her. This is of course something between the wife and the man, not know to the people who pities the wife and tells her to "lay down". It's a really good song |

I like this song very much to, but I think that it's about the deluge in the Bible, when everything was washed away by the rain, and the only thing remaining in Cave's song is this carny, obviously a "travelling freak-show", which were very popular in past times, where people would come to watch retarded and crippled people for amusement, depicted here by the Birdgirl, the Dog boy and of course the dwarfes. The leader indeed doesn't seem to be a very nice person, as he treats old Sorrow as though he never was nothing to him. I guess that poor horse must have pulled the wagons and died, and was never "buried" properly - he was just dead weight to the leader.
Anyway, I think that Nick is playing with the thought that the only survinging people after the deluge - the ark of Noa - consisted of a bunch of freaks, and it is them that has given birth the today's humans, our ancestors were freaks, and the human kind carries that mark I guess would be something Nick would toy with in a song. |

I dont think the lyrics reflects anything that has happened before the "Sunday Morning" - Sunday to me is a day of nothing-that-has-to-be-done. You go up whenever you want, you dont have do do anything, just sit in your robe and drink coffee by your self.
There is something very rare about such moments, when you're in a mood when nothing really bothers you and it feels like time has stopped and you have absolutely nothing to do because you dont want to have anything to do. At least that is what I think this song so perfectly describes. |

I think this song is about dying. Set free to memories of yesterdays clouds sounds like he/she was set free from some depression.
A new illusion sounds like a new body, our bodies are just illusions of our souls.
Prince of stories - maybe death. And I saw my head laughing makes me think of a soul floating away from its body, watching the body from the outside, and in this case, death came as a release, because his body is laughing.
Guess the song is bittersweet, because if an illusion is a new body, it should be about reincarnation, you get a second chance to live a happy life. The person in this song obviously didn't have a nice life, so he/she decided to go for a new life :)

The stooges are raw and upfront, and delivers their messeges in a brutal way. Here, I guess "I wanna be your dog" refers to have dirty sex and being submissive. When this song came out that subject were like one of the most provocative things you could talk about, and with Iggy delivering his messege in this way must have pist a lot of people of real hard, just as Iggy wanted to :) The song is direct and it really beats the crap out of you, there is no hidden messege!

Guys, I feel sorry for this guy Masterofpuppets80, he seems to be very angry. But maybe thats because he is so stupid after all, maybe he ought to read a little about Sid Vicious. Sid Vicious wrote this song to piss people of, just like he wore a swastika and all the other things he did. Obviously he succeded pretty well Masterofpuppets80 :) cos you are one of those guys who just can't appreciate some good old "make me mad, I want to break a window just for the heck of it"-music, which Sex Pistols whole idea was. And it's a shame you can't feel that way, cos it's one of the greatest feelings there is, you feel powerfull and stong, but you stick with your metallica and other bad music
