I'm sorry to say but you're all quite clearly wrong. M is the name of Fritz Lang's seminal film about a child killer in 1930s Germany (I think it's Dusseldorf, but you'd have to check yourselves to be certain). You can tell this quite clearly by the lines: "You'll fall in love with somebody else Tonight" (The child killer says that he can't help what he does - not unlike love) "And ready for the next attack" (Attack another victim perhaps?). Obviously it isn't solely about this film and resonates quite effectively as a love song, however the title's origin is in the Fritz Lang film, not his future wife. |
