this song is very open to interpretation. it can be about bush religion actual drugs but the main point is, its something that has control over you and it's talking to you...telling you to "go back to sleep"...that its all okay if you just listen to it. so...if your a druggie then the drug is talking to you if your a republican zombie(hahahhaha sorry to you republicans...)...then its the president if your a religious extremist then its the religion talking to you it can go any of those ways...depends on the situation...Maynard wrote it that way for a reason...so its able to be understood on all sides |

yeah i agree with "testdrive" ...the whole CD is about addictions...not always to drugs...but addictions no less. I belive this song is about someone who has come out of an addiction and is acting as though all his "deeds" and "addictions" are well and paid for and he is reborn and pure...and Maynard is like "hey dude...i know your all clean and shit...but um...redemption issnt so quick...yu might want to stay stable for awhile before you go acting all saved and shit" IDK just my take...alittle different then "testdrives" but there both along the same lines i think. but hey its Maynard...who knows what he really means. :) |
