I REALLY love that song. Never listen to it in a depressed mood, though. |

I wouldn't call this a translation, just something that gives you a feeling what the song is about. Sorry for my less than perfect English: There is no way back Do you remember how i was like? Wonderful childhood - the world full of color and beauty. Until one day you it strikes you: not every goodbye has its reunion. (Chorus) Always forward, step by step, there is no way back, and what is now, can never be undone. Time escapes us, what's done is done. And what is now, will never happen again in the same way. There is no way back. There is no way back. A word too much, spoken in anger, a step too far you dared to go, and all is lost. Whatever is done, what i said, remains spoken, and what looked like eternity, is already in the past. Chorus Oh, if I could just once turn back the clocks. For much of what I know today, I'd prefer not having seen. There is no way back. There is no way back. Your life is just running in circles, full of time, carelessly thrown away, you procrastinate your dreams endlessly. Someday, you intend to live, but when if not today? For one day even a dream is too long gone. Chorus |

"Well who the hell can he be when he's never had V.D., and he doesn't even sit on toilet seats?" :-) I love that line. |

| Jethro Tull – Nursie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| yep. she is, from the interviews I have read. | |
| Jethro Tull – Mother Goose Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Fine songs. But it is useless to try to find deeper meaning in there. It's just some funny nursery rhyme, automatic writing stuff. | |

Well, you know that there are different opinions on that? Along with guitarist Martin Barre I agree that that album is the finest thing Jethro Tull has ever done (and I love "Aqualung" and "Thick as a brick" as much as anyone). I love the complexity of the arrangements, and the soundscape they got out of the - then brand-new - technology. Some memorable tunes in there, too. I personally could have lived without the drum-computer, which is the thing about this album that has aged the least well. (I am only guessing here, but maybe you are too young to appreciate what they have done with the technology of their time. But let's not make a question of faith out of this: it is only music, after all.) |

| Jethro Tull – Inside Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| A good old-fashioned love-song, with a lot of "it's good to be home"-feeling. Reminds me a little of "Fire at midnight", lyric-wise. | |
| Jethro Tull – Fylingdale Flyer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The song is about a nuclear missile approaching, and the observers not being sure if they are dealing with a real attack or just a technical glitch. | |
| Jethro Tull – Cheap Day Return Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| @ bookends_smile: yes, from what I have read, the two songs "cheap-day return" and "nursie" refer to the same day, when Ian was visiting his dad in hospital. | |
| Jethro Tull – Bungle In The Jungle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| According to Ian Anderson (you can find an intersting list of answered questions at j-tull.com) the song is about modern life in a kind of fierce "dog eat dog"-society. About the gay thing: that's absurd. Stay away from drugs. ;-) | |
| Jethro Tull – Broadsword Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I always thought this song to refer to viking/norse history. But the cross is the wrong symbol for that. On the other hand, roundhouses wouldn't point to the crusades, either. It is probably just a bag of mixed metaphors and doesn't have a place in real history. | |
| Jethro Tull – Baker St. Muse Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yes, hard to believe that Ian himself was never too fond of the album. I personally love its chrystal clear sound and memorable tunes (except for the title track, where the drawn out guitar-solo-part always annoys me a little). | |
| Jethro Tull – A Small Cigar Lyrics | 19 years ago |

It was supposed to be on the "too old to rock'n'roll"-album. so there is no need to speculate about the social background of its main character, it is obviously old rocker Ray. And I love the song, too. Good stuff. |
