| Genesis – Ripples Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
way, way back in the 80's , a newsagent in town made the bizarre decision to sell remaindered LPs which all had a weird hole in the top left hand corner as if they'd been hung up on a metal rail and displayed. I have no idea why they had this hole but you could buy lps for roughly £3.00. I purchased Trick of the Tail from that rack and almost instantly fell in love with Ripples and it remains my favourite song by Genesis. Whilst I'm pretty certain that most of your interpretations have some merit I've always adopted the lyric "ripples never come back" as a way of reminding myself that people come into your life and leave making ripples in your existence which change you sometimes forever.Wheneevr I hear the song it makes me feel happy for all the ripples in my life who've been friends. Cheers, guys! |

It don't matter I won't do what you say You've got the money and the power I won't go your way And I can't take for the people They don't matter at all And I'll be waiting in the shadows 'Til the day that you fall REALLY, like that verse, but this song as a whole is as good as any they've done before, Well done lads! |

| Newton Faulkner – Teardrop Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is exactly how to do a cover version- take a song, completely revamp it and make it your own. No one should even attempt this song, but Faulkner does it brilliantly. | |
| Paul Weller – Whirlpool's End Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| best track on Weller's best album. As a man born and bred in Surreyits also always nice to ensure the homeland gets a mention! | |
| Rihanna – Shut Up and Drive Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| much better than that damn Umbrella song! | |
| The Beautiful South – I Think The Answer's Yes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
But I still wear suspenders underneath my business suit So needn't worry about me for a while I had a phase where I had that line stuck in my head for literally ages and found it extremely hard not to sing out loud! |

| The Beautiful South – Worthless Lie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
my favourite Beautiful South Song, about being with the wrong person and hoping you'll end up with the right one at some point. Paul heaton is a great lyricist, and yes he should get a medal of some sort. |

| Marillion – Charting The Single Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
the song is about Fish or any young man touring Europe meeting the ladies, and having a series of 1 night stands whilst he still has a chance. Somehow I've never really paid attention to the lyrics before, but interpreting them makes me like the song even more. |

| Marillion – The Web Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
There's just one problem with Ghostlights interpretation- if its written from the POV of a man, he would't refer to "its symphony echoes in my womb". using the Shroud of Laertes metaphor, I think the song relates to a woman, possibly pregnant, or with a child, stuck at home with nothing to do and ina relationship where the man has taken complete control of her life to the extent that she has no friends and no interests. She's lost her confidence, and remains alone in her apartment not knowing what to do- so she is trapped in a web. as the song goes on, shes saying that she knows that changing this situation is her responsibility and she's thought about making the move and hasn't yet,. But now she realises it is time to lose her fears and go on out into the world again. So she finally leaves the house and him behind even though she' s sad at the end of things, she realises that she has overcome her fears and broken free of the web she was trapped in. This is a fantastic song. |

| Marillion – Alone Again in the Lap of Luxury Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| portrait of a dysfunctional family. Brave is a fantastic and, indeed Brave album. One of the best albums of the 90's | |
| Marillion – The Last Straw Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm surprised that no one has ever commented on this song. It remains one of my favourite Fish era songs, and the sheer anger Fish brings to the lyric makes it the ideal choice to close out the best album by the group of that era. | |
| Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| after so many comments made, and so many different interpretations of Run there's very little to add except that this is probably my favourite song of the last few years, and I can listen to it over and over again and never get sick of it | |
| Placebo – Meds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| its INFURIATINGLY catchy! | |
| Gene – Save Me, I'm Yours Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song reminds me of an "ex" called Maria. She had/has a drinking problem and spent many nights thinking these thoughts. I remember going round to see her when she was at a near suicidal point in her life, and she was listening to this song almost constantly. That was 8 years ago now, and I've moved away from the area and lost touch with her. I hope she remembers me when she hears this song |

| 'Til Tuesday – (Believed You Were) Lucky Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'm surprised that I'm the first person to make a comment on this song. This is my all-time favourite song. It reminds me of the period of my life where I was always, always trying to get the wrong girl - the more I wanted her, the more I was pushing uphill. If only I'd known in 1987 that you need patience in order to find the love of your life, then life would have been fucking great after all |
