It's about the story of Adam and EVe. Before he ate from the tree he was "up way up in the sky... decided I was never coming down." After he ate it, he's crawling on the ground instead of swimming in the haze. "I guess the jokes on me, she said" because Eve realizes that she was cursed even more than Adam, and she initiated this action. The joke's on her. "i used to be so big and strong. i used to know my right from wrong. i used to never be afraid." Now he doesn't know, everything's confusing. "but the needle's already in my eye." His eyes used to see no evil, they were pure. Now they've been pierced by a needle. "and all the world's weight is on my back and i don't even know why" He can't understand why that tiny dot (a fruit) ruined everything, and now he's completely to blame, the weight of the whole world is on his back. "i looked him right in the eye and said "goodbye."" Goodbye to his old self, now he has a new life to lead. |
