| ^^ Ooh, I agree. It didn't really sound like 'gusher' but I couldn't figure out what it was. Glass shoe fits so much better too! | |

Yeah the one I heard on their VF page isn't like that either. It's: This story's missing a wishing well No mirror to show and tell No kiss that can break the spell I'm falling asleep Every Prince is a fantasy The witch is inside of me The boys in the washery The memory We kill the lights And put on a show It's all a lie But you'd never know The star will shine And then it will fall And you will forget it all And after midnight We're all the same No gusher(?) to bring us fame Nobody to take the blame We're falling apart Every story's a waiting game A flower for every name Their colors are filling you With falling rain We kill the lights And put on a show It's all a lie But you'd never know The star will shine And then it will fall And you will forget it all Now you know it's so much better to pretend There's something waiting for you here Every letter that you wrote Has found its way to me my dear You can make believe that what you say Is what I want to hear I'll keep dancing through this beautiful, delusional career. Faking every tear Looking like a comprimise suicide Keeping all my dreams alive |

| Oh, I heard this song on the radio today and knew it was the Killers as soon as Brandon started singing. I'm in love with it! | |

| A lot of it seems to have to do with Cannibalism. | |

This song is a murder that had something to do with water but wasn't a drowning. I think it was a guy who'd heard his girlfriend was cheating on him. He took her out and they were just mucking around ("Drive faster boy" could've been her encouraging him to pass the speed limit and just having fun). He's had so many people trying to help him cope because he's getting all worked up after hearing she cheated and, I don't know, might be all depressed or unhinged or something. I always thought it was 'Fix these things I've heard' so: "Make it go away without a word But promise me you'll stay Fix these things I've heard" Is him wanting her to fix it by denying it, confirming it that it was just a rumour. But he must've thought she really was a 'Guilty Girl' because he killed her. I think he killed her by driving the car off a cliff and into the ocean while he jumped out. "I took my baby's breath beneath the chandelier of stars and atmosphere And watched her disappear Into the midnight show" It was night when he killed her so he watched her go under the stars. Him watching her disappear was watching the car go out and fall into the ocean. That's why he's always saying he's driving. At first he's drives fast because she encourages him but then he keeps driving faster to 'make it go away' by driving fast off a cliff. Anyway, that's how I always looked at it. |

I love this song, and the film clip. And Jewe's voice...she sings it so well. I agree with nothingelsecompares on the analysis except for the first verse, where it says 'See the hero try to run'. I don't think that's about some random guy who's suppossed to be heroic, I think it means the Cop is running away after seeing the lady with a gun. I also like how in the film clip, the cop is seeing to be chatting up some girl (possibly a hooker?) while another one goes and gives the money back. |
