it's about one of his friends who he found out became a stripper, then he got this whole scenario in his head that some guy (like a talent agent or manager or something) see her and wants to make her a star. the song is their conversation and stuff. alex wrote a whole thing about in the booklet or the single. also guys, just cuz the girl in the songs name is maria doesn't mean that the girl who the song is about name is maria. just thought i'd point that out. |

with the whole squoze or closed my eyes thing. i know it seems like the closed my eyes part doesn't make since but if this song is about his dog getting hit by a car then it could be that he wasn't really paying attention and the dog ran out into the street and got hit, so it could be like he's blaming himself for it. 'i wasn't paying attention you got hit by a car and died' = 'i closed my eyes so hard i stopped your heart from beating' idk though it's just a thought. |

"its kinda popish but i still like it with the little bit of screaming and the almost hardcore lyrics." um first off, if you have fall out boy in you name then you can't really call this popish cuz senses fail is way more 'hardcore' then fall out boy. nothing against fob or you i'm just saying. i dont think that this is actually about kurt cobain, i think that they are just referencing him and whoever originally wrote the quote, like they are just trying to say that they feel the same. |

i think that it's about someone who is loosing their faith and is sorta hanging with a bad crowd i guess you could say and how twisted and messed up it gets and how she wants to get out of it and get her faith back 'With my screaming in your itching ears' 'Hear it, I'm screaming it You're heeding to it now Hear it, I'm screaming it You tremble at this sound' i think that you could interpret those lines as either her telling herself or someone else that to go to God or that God himself is trying to lead her back to Him. since God is always there and always trying to help you the 'itching ears' part is like him being there calling to you and 'you tremble at this sound' since God is the almighty it says in the Bible that people tremble at the sound of his name. |

AngieR i like how you interpreted it. i didnt see at as a girl feeling remorseful after having sex until i read your post. i also have to agree with seelendchrei that it's nice that christian bands aren't 'shoving religion down peoples throats' i guess you could say. that way people who aren't necesarrily religious or aren't christian can listen to the song and interpret it however they want. basicly i love this song and i love flyleaf. the vocals, music and lyrics are awesome! |
