The Velvet Underground – Stephanie Says Lyrics 19 years ago
I think that Stephanie is about a girl who is unable to get really close with people. People meet her and are friends with her but eventually they move on (she's the door but can't be the room) and she grows resentful while they regard her as cold-hearted (they call her Alaska.)
But her isolation is self-imposed and is a product of her coldness. (It's all in her mind.)

So she questions why she lives in this isolation. But people wonder about her "Does she like living so distantly?" (Is it good or bad?) The answer is no, it's a cold and lonely existence. "It's so cold in Alaska."

Toni Basil – Mickey Lyrics 19 years ago
Mickey was just a name change. Toni Basil didn't originally record the song. It was recorded by UK pop group Racey in 1979 except it was "Kitty". Basil changed it Mickey so that the genders would be reversed.

Michael McDonald – What a fool believes Lyrics 19 years ago
The story of this song goes like this: McDonald was given an ultimatum by the Doobie Brothers that if he didn't write them a new hit song in time for Koko Goldstein's big party, he was out of the band. Kenny Loggins offered to help, but McDonald was wary as Loggins had ditched his old partner, Jimmy Messina, who had since become an alcoholic vagrant. Loggins had been unaware of Messina's despondancy and went to go patch things up. Messina refused to forgive Loggins prompting McDonald to say "Do you really believe you can just come here and try to recreate what has yet to be created? That's what a fool believes!" And a hit was born.

Rilo Kiley – Always Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't think she's saying she'll always love him. His middle name is "always" and "I'll always love you" is the kind of thing he's likely to say. "I'll always want you. Oo-oh, ye-eah." But he's not such a great guy and HE's the phantom, hideous underneath his disguise. I think she just mixes up the POV in the song a little bit.
