alright so I know that people get fed up with people blaming their parents for things but frankly if her mother was superstitious enough to have a c-section a day early I'd say it's safe to assume that maybe neurotic tendencies might run in the family a little. I don't think Amanda is saying that she shouldn't have to take responsibility I think (if you looked up the meaning of anachronism) that it's more in relation to having an identity that is very far removed from what is thought acceptable in one's own society/era. It sounds like a musical version of Borderline personality disorder, erratic and intense, yet apologetic at some points. It reminds me of points in my life when I tried explaining things to people as to why I was depressed or had BDD or BPD and just got written off as "melodramatic" (although I don't blame my parents or childhood.) So the line in which she says "don't call the doctors..." I find particularly funny. Last bit I promise. I think a good bit of it is poking fun at our current society. Where anyone who's the odd one out is put on medication and see as constantly vying for attention. |
