Well, I know some Welsh, so I'll help you out. (Also, I agree, this song is ace.) Basically it addresses a myth that music can destroy the soul - that it's a tool of the devil. "Ymaelodi a'r ymylon" basically means "banished to the periphery", which can be seen as a higher state of consciousness, or even hell. I'm unsure of what the full intent is here. Anyways, brill song. |

I realize what everyone else can take from this song, and let me offer my literary interpretation. I look at this song very much like Walt Whitman's poem "To A Common Prostitute." George would be talking to a woman here who is NOT necessarily a lover, but does hold power over the singer. He wants to make her better than she is, to make her, for lack of a better term, "closer to God." He wants to help her, not engage in a sexual relationship with her. To say the woman in question in this song is a prostitute would be unfair, but she probably holds a similar waywardness in her life. Nowhere should this song be considered to be about pedophilia. |

I laughed at the Zoe Ball comment. Spot on. Yes, this song is possibly about Brett Anderson's former girlfriend Sam, who is a model. However, I'm more inclined to believe it is more general than just about one woman. This song can be seen as a credo for all women out there that fit the description - those very thin, posh sisters that are doing it for themselves, and have power over every person they touch. |

The title of this song is an abbreviation of "we're so disco", which is what the demo was originally called. Who knows why the abbreviation was used instead. This song is about the life of a transgendered person, deep in depression and drugs. |

| Yes, there is obviously reference to James Dean's stardom and death in this song. But like a lot of other Suede songs, this is about disillusioned youth and their idols. | |

You are right with both drug references. Cocaine is referenced in this song, with the "skyline stained the snow". Heroin is not only referenced with "chase the dragon", but also "a servant who kept me on the boil" (both describing the same action.) Not all Suede songs are blatantly about drugs, which is what I've seen on here. Maybe these references were not intended and are coincidental, but they do sing about drugs legitmately in other songs. |

Umm... you are all totally off. The song is based from the Lord Byron poem which begins with the same line, "she walks in beauty, like the night". This song really doesn't have anything to do with a prostitute. It's more about a boy who is becoming a man (I'm eighteen and I need my heroines) identifying his notions of women with his female idols - who are actresses and pin-up girls pinned to his wall. These women are traditional femmes fatale, as shown by the reference to Raphaella, the pre-Raphaelite princess. Femmes fatale have traditionally shown up in art as symbols of the downfall of men, which is evident by his "dying." Yes, Anderson and Butler are quite arty in their references. |
