Dead Blue Sky – When Time was Time and Life was Breath Lyrics 15 years ago
Just hit this on shuffle...haven't listened to it in about 3 years, haha. Still such a great cd. It still holds it's own against 'metalcore' of these days.

Darkest Hour – No God Lyrics 15 years ago
I think someone SHOULD throw mud in the face of Christianity. The majority of Christians constantly throw mud at other religions, beliefs and ideas. And also, you're argument about closing one's mind off, while sounding fancy and nice, is ridiculous. If a mind is too open, it can hold nothing. ;)

Bloc Party – Biko Lyrics 17 years ago
I actually think bethie might be on to something, look at some of the other song titles:
Ares: greek god of war
Mercury: messenger of roman mythology
Halo: obvious christian references, not sure of any other religious/mythological connetions
Biko: as already mentioned sukuna-biko is prominent in japanese culture
Trojan Horse: greek culture
Zypherus: found in traditional greek stories
Better than heaven: well...yeah.

honestly, slappy is right. None of their lyrics are exactly...intelligent? innovative? fresh? interesting? artistic? but the musics pretty good. And they're pretty entertaining to listen to.

well no doubt they're genius when it comes to constructing songs and writing lyrics. It's almost something you would find in a collection of great american poetry. Very big inspiration for a writing major like myself :-D

Circle Takes the Square – Same Shade As Concrete Lyrics 19 years ago
This is how I see it:
The first part of the song seems to be about Adam (the prince) and Eve along with 'original sin'. I think that as the song goes on it's kind of a man vs. nature idea, much some of Robinson Jeffer's poems. Perhaps nature and the animals view human religion as a way mankind is destroying itself from the inside out. As we urbanize the world, destroy nature, crime rates go up, morality declines and more and more people who once denounced religion find it the only answer. The Great Awakening pt. II? Slowly the religious form the political factions and a new world is born, rather than nature being found in abundance, it's concrete. A warped cycle of humanity perhaps?
