Almost two years ago my best friend and I took a road trip from Western PA to Chicago on our fall break from college. It was a last minute thing - booked a hostel that thankfully had 2 beds, and off we drove 500 miles to get there. It was a long weekend of ridiculous walking, clubbing, seeing the sites in the crisp Chicago fall air, all very enjoyable. On our way home, as we got off I-80 and into PA, I put this album on and we listened to it the rest of the way home. Everytime I think about this trip this song gets in my head. It wasn't until tonight that I actually checked to see what the title was - not sure why I never did before. When I saw this title I nearly gasped. You see, what made the trip so memorable was the randomness of it and it being one of the last hoorahs before we graduated. It was a weekend where I really bonded with my best friend and he became more of a brother to me. And the song has special meaning now because I reflect about that weekend, how out of all the shenanigans we ever did in college, that weekend was the quintessence of our care-free lifestyle, before we became real adults and had to work, pay bills, and be responsible. Thank you, Ben, for making such beautiful lyrics. I hope I can tell you this in person some day. |

| I will never get tired of listening to this song. After all these years, it still just leaves me speechless... | |

makes me think....about how I myself, and many others I know, don't have regrets about life. Maybe it's a nominal statement, and they are hiding their hurt. Anyways, I've only been in two long-term relationships (3 yrs and 2 yrs), and at first I regretted them when I broke up with the girls. But it took me time to get over it. But now that I'm about to graduate college, I feel like the stakes are a little bit different since it's the working world now. And it makes me wonder...will this song ever speak to me? Although it's a beautiful song, I hope that i can never relate to it from a personal standpoint. Cheers to DCFC! |

| one of the best love songs out there. I'm about to graduate college, I met this amazing woman last november, and she's not ready for a relationship yet. So I told her last week that I will wait...and this song reminds me of our situation. It doesn't mean that I won't date other people, but if I get involved w/someone else, and she's finally ready, I'll drop what I'm doing to be w/her....to me, that's one of the amazing things about love....seeing what potential you may have w/someone, and dropping what you're doing to be w/them....and taking that risk. because what you may have could be something amazing, the best thing you'll ever have. or it may not last. but at least you know you tried.... | |

| insomniac328, thank you for that interpretation. I do believe it could relate to a guy/girl thing, but right now it applies to my roommates and I, as we are all graduating from College in May, and going off in completely different directions. And we are uncertain when we will see each other next. and hearing these chords, they just bring out the deepest feelings. feelings that you didnt know you had, and hearing that chord will bring it to the surface...and all you can do is cry. cry because you're thankful for where you are. cry because of who you've met along the way. and cry because you dont know what will happen next when you leave your brothers... | |
| Daft Punk – Make Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| you know what i think of when i hear this song? this is really whack, but I think of a French Orgy with people sitting around getting high and tripping w/weird lights flashing around in a lounge. its a pretty crazy image in my head - and no i don't take drugs either hahaha | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Give It Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| yeah, it was definitely Nina Hagen who inspired him to do this song while the rest of the group was jamming to the lick - prob my fav story of the whole book (of which there are MANY to choose from) - Scar Tissue. Excellent read, couldn't put it down! Like others mentioned, she gave him her favorite (leather?) jacket and said that its good to give things away (or something along those lines) | |
| Five for Fighting – 100 Years Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| definitely a good song, I've really started to listen to it recently as I'm entering my senior year in college, just another chapter ending in my life. I would have to concur with some user opinions that this is a love story going through the different stages of a relationship, and at the end wondering where one's lover has gone upon death. great song, cheers to being young. | |

| Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i can't help but think of the fall semester of my junior year in college, this past year (fall '05). it was at this point that things began to unfold in my life, what i was really gonna do with it became apparent. At the same time I heard this song I realized what kind of person I was becoming, and my innocence was fading fast. good song. | |
| Ben Folds Five – Kate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i can relate to this song; my best friend is also a Kate, and everything she has in life i admire, somewhat envious. plus, she's gorgeous so yeah. hahaha. i mentioned someone under "brick", and it's the same girl | |

| i know this song is about abortion, but hearing the chorus can't help me think about a someone who drives you crazy cuz you can't stop thinking about them. also, when he says "Now that I have found someone/I'm feeling more alone/Than I ever have before" it reminds me of meeting someone that you really want to be with, but you can't, so you feel even more alone. I guess I feel this way about this song cuz I first heard it w/a girl that fits what I just said - one who drives me crazy thinking about her and I feel more alone now because I know I can't be w/her....but yeah that's just what i think. | |
| The Beach Boys – God Only Knows Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| wow, ohxishxitsxdavid and everyone else who mentioned Wonder Years. I've listened to the Beach Boys since I was 8 (I'm 21 now), but when I saw that episode back on Nick at Nite reruns (I barely remember watching the show when it was orginally on) it instantly became my fav Beach Boys songs. Definitely an awesome song, definitely not given enough credit like it should. And indeed, Wonder Years is definitely the best show ever. | |

chorus should read "replay the moment in your life" I'm not very good at figuring out the meanings of songs, which is how i found this site, but here's my first entry: I think this song is referring to one who has lost/left a loved one ("I never return to love somebody"). He wants to return to this person, yet is having doubts whether or not to go through with it ("Now all that I need is all I see in you And only you"). Nevertheless, whatever the person does, he does not want to be forgotten ("when you slowly close your eyes/replay the moment in your life/breathe in and give it away"; "Don't ever forget to tell somebody/The feelings inside to make your dreams come true"), what the relationship was like. Great song, makes an awesome ringtone too! |
