Mos Def – Rock N Roll Lyrics | 16 years ago |
. I mean, they were good musicians, but they sure didn't give credit where it was due. *shrug* ------------------------------------------------ Well Nah, NOT all bands The likes of the Who have credited it where it was due and pinned down their influences by actually covering and the likes of mose allison etc and stating how that blues rock influenced them. Not all bands didnt, for someone of high intellect MOS Def lays a shit set of lyrics down stating the rolling stones and elvis werent rock n roll, of course they were, they were part of rock n roll history in the same way chuck berry etc were. His argument is that blacks dont get enough credit but that doesnt come across as he just slates white rock n roll artists. Basically he tries to be clever but falls flat by just saying black is best, he doesnt even touch the real way blacks created rock n roll. Take hendrix, he was influenced by black musicians in the same way as the rolling stones. He was hugely influenced by the Who and his style became defined in england where he basically took as 'home'. Hendrix (the best rock musician of all time - note) had no say in the creation of rock n roll (via the black artists who created the blues) but he is just rock and roll cos he is black? - soz but he worked in the same way as the stones etc ?What a wack argument. Who created 12 bar blues anyway? no one knows - that is the man who deserves all the credit - cos someone did it. |
