The first verse seems so innocent that it remids me of a child reciting what they've learned in school. It makes me sad what kind of places children have to grow up in. "Tar angels await as I learn to hate this perfect world of my life" |

Of course, what it means to the artist and every person that hears it will be completely different. I completly see how it could be about Mr. Good's life (and most likely is), but the first time I heard it, I though of a drug addiction. It seemed like relationships were falling apart all around this guy in the song and he thought that he was holding it all together. "A last grasp at a life worth living... you can see right through me". He seems to be coming to grips with the fact that his life is falling apart and he's losing/has lost the most important person to him. "When I wake up you won't be here. Don't you think I don't know why. I've been asleep for years." |

I don't think that this song's about suicide at all. I think its about the Church. "If there's nothing left to die for and all this beauty is just decay"-- the church is bullshit and there's no such things heaven. "Lets go out going all the way"-- don't stay within these guidelines on how to live your life preached by some old men who know nothing of love or life. |
