i agree, this is such an amazing song, and in my band we do it as much as possible, and people ALWAYS come up to us afterwards and ask us more about the song, and what album it's off. i dunno, but the first few lines make me think of drugs, i'm sure that's not what its about, but like...i dunno that's the impression i get from lines like... -"I know to trip is just to fall, I used to rock it, sometimes I'd roll it. I always knew what it was for." -"There's a new plague on the land " and there are also very other drug references. i dunno, makes me think of acid, but then again, i could be totally DEAD wrong. |

a lot of this song makes me think of heroin use. opened up my veins too many times-shooting heroin into a vein. lots of references to a poison, drugs=poison, that's clear to see, haha. i'm after rebellion, i'll settle for lies-maybe something like, he was trying to rebell from something bu turning to drugs, but everything people told him about them were lies, but since he's hooked, he has to settle. experiments that failed too many times-referring to experimenting with drugs, and things just getting worse from there. |

blue oyster cult had an almost obsession with the thought of the extraterrestrial, they even made a concept album telling a story of an alien/human on earth. this song is neither about suicide nor acid, it's about an alien abduction, believe it or not. strange shapes light up the night-referring to UFOs the men in black-referring to the FBI release myself from earthly care-leave the care of people, and be taken into the care of aliens. |
