| Lou Reed – Wild Child Lyrics | 18 years ago |
that's cool. maybe Lou Reed wrote a song about your mom. I'd say I was pretty sure it was about your mom. You seem to have pretty good reason to believe it is, unless your mom or her high school boyfriend was lying, which is possible, but who knows? Take a walk on the wild side! |

| Mika – Relax, Take It Easy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| so I love all Mika's songs but when Iisten to this one I dont want to listen to the happy songs like love today and grace kelly. it makes me feel better when I'm down but it seems so different from his other songs. I listen to this one once and can't feel justified in listening to others because this one is so different and amazing. | |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Tell Me Baby Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Stadium Arcadium Lyrics | 18 years ago |
favorite rhcp song off of the album. its simply a song about the ultimate place to perform and the ultimate performance. I picture a huge stadium out in space, lit by the reflection of the moon. anyone can go, only the elite (like rhcp) perform there. nothing like the stadium arcadium will be constructed for a long time... "state of the art until the clouds come crashing" and strange things can happen there. Theres more to the song than this but this is what it means to me. |
| Box Car Racer – There Is Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is basically about my freshman year of high school... I'm sure it goes two ways too. The number of times that I lay awake at night thinking exactly that; "Do you care if I don't know what to say? Will you sleep tonight, or will you think of me? Will I shake this off, pretend it's all okay that there's someone out there who feels just like me? There is..." It's this line that makes me sure that my ex boyfriend felt the same things as me. |

| Snow Patrol – Set the Fire to the Third Bar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the "set the fire to the third bar" line has got me a little bit. I think possibly it may be a double meaning: an alcohol-related bar and a bar as in music, aka, a measure. I am a musician so that is the connection I made but the connection is not complete. I don't know what a bar of music has to do with setting fire to it or this song but it's another perspective. Maybe someone can expand on that? the electric fire makes sense too the more I think about it. |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Easily Lyrics | 19 years ago |
of course its about war and materialism... most wars are fought because of materialism. look at the Iraq war; oil is the only reason for it as there were no weapons of mass destruction and the US hadn't found any. On a side note the country really was a bit more stable before the US went in. It at least had a government... now it has a new prime minister every other month because of the insergeants. So really what was the point of the war? throw me to the wolves because there's order in the pack. wolves know how things roll. apparently us humans that claim to be the higher life forms don't. And I really can't tell you who to idolize. I can't tell you who to look to for leadership, especially in a war. That has to be your decision. back to the Iraq war which is supposedly over but people die there every day. You think its almost over but its only on the rise. and back in the day when people used to get married the day before he went off to war. then the story of the woman on the morning of a war who isn't exactly sure what her new husband is fighting for she just loves him and he's the most important thing in the world to her. I guess I'm done going off now. PEACE OUT. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I only read the first page of comments so bear that in mind. First of all, Catholics are taught not to fear God but to be reverent of Him. in this song the image of heaven is not the one we usually get with angels and halos and clouds and billions of souls everywhere in paradise. heaven is being with the love of your life forever, even after your souls have left the living world. like what was said earlier about soulmates. like in "What Sarah Said" who's gonna watch you die? love is being with someone even after death. Or on a different note: After judgement day- that's when heaven and hell would logically "illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs" (amazing line, by the way) |
| Three Days Grace – (I Hate) Everything About You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I only read the first page of comments so maybe someone has said this already but It is about two people a guy and a girl that are addicted to sex. They don't like each other at all but they need each other for the sex. duhhhh. Every time we lie awake After every hit we take and Every roommate kept awake By every silent scream we make (only the screams probably weren't silent...) |

| America – I Need You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| definetly love this song! | |
| Tom Petty – Even The Losers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I like this line "Two cars park on the overpass, rocks hit the water like broken glass. " I dated a guy once that I thought was way too good for me. We had known each other forever and I just kept thinking "This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I'm so lucky but I know this won't last." We dated for around six months, I was a freshman in high school. I still miss him (two years later) even though I broke up with him. I hope he hasn't forgotten. It couldn't be that easy to forget about me... |

| The Alan Parsons Project – Step By Step Lyrics | 19 years ago |
These lyrics are a little bit wrong: I was just a joker in a serious game I didn't have the heart to play But sooner or later I'll find a reason to tkrow it away Risin' on the crest of a natural wave That never seems to break my way I'm livin' without it But I got to do something about it Step by step, little by little move a little closer to me Step by step take it line by line one day at a time Move move move, move a little closer to me Step by step The deal is mine I was just a runner in a one horse race Livin' on the don't pass line Sooner or later I got to lose cause I'm wasting my time Lady Luck must have been a wonderful girl She's never been a friend of mine I'm living without her But I still got that mountain to climb Step by step, little by little, move a little closer to me Step by step take it line by line, one day at a time Move move move, move a little closer to me Step by step the deal is mine Step by step little by little, move a little closer to me Step by step take it line by line, one day at a time Move move move, move a little closer to me Step by step, the deal is mine sounds like someone gambling or betting on a horse race maybe anyone have any ideas? |

| Tom Petty – Mary Jane's Last Dance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I don't know but I been told you never slow down you never get old..." let's not slow down, shall we? old is a state of mind. "Oh my my Oh hell yes honey put on that party dress" the picture that comes to my mind when I hear that is this: a man layed out in a bed and the girl he just slept with standing up. They are getting ready for a party and he likes the way she looks - without clothes or with clothes. And he's taking her to this party so he is admiring her. I kinda want a guy to say this to me. Anyway good song... surprised that there aren't more comments on Petty's songs. I always thought Petty was popular almost to the point of being overplayed. |
| Yellowcard – Two Weeks From Twenty Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I only read the first page of comments...... the man doesnt have to be bush and it doesnt have to be talking about the war in iraq. I think its a really sad song and I think its sad that that kind of thing happens. Now: What's wrong with a band expressing their opinions? Thats what music is. You can't say that Bob Dylan or Bob Marley or RHCP were not good musicians because of their songs. You definetly cant say you hate them because of their opinions. Music is great because it can be so influential. Oh ya, and who says it doesnt take any brain power to play in a band? Have you ever played in a band? If you havnt you have no right to make a statement like that. grayce: I agree with your interpretation on the "All he had was a line for his name/ So he could sign away his right to be proud." lines. I think that becoming a mindless follower as they make you be in the military is really sad. Anyone: Listen to Jack Johnson's The News and It's All Understood on the album Brushfire Fairytales. They kind of pertain to this whole thing. |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Around the World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| except for Dani California I think this is my favorite song by rhcp. its fun and easy to sing with. | |
| Jack Johnson – Losing Hope Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I had an epiphany about this song last night when I was watching The Goonies. You know the part when they get to the wishing well and they find the "rich stuff" then Andie talks about how she used to think that when she threw a coin in it turned into her wish and then they decide that they can't take the coins because they're other people's wishes. Well somebody's something was left in the room And man now that its gone well of course we assume That somebody else needed something so bad That they took everything that somebody had the something that was left was somebody's wish/dream and somebody else took that away from them and that wish/dream was all that somebody had. but maybe somebody else had problems or low self esteem (maybe?) and to make themselves feel better they had to take somebody's wish/dream away. |
| Jack Johnson – Losing Hope Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is such a great song.....so many people can relate to it. Everyone has had a best friend move away or die. I've had two best friends move away and I think about both whenever I hear this song. Mostly I think of the latter b/f. She goes off to college in a few days and I won't get to see her much before she leaves b/c I'm doing other things.....She's gonna leave a big hole and I'll have to find someone else to call and hang on to. I think that my friend feels the same way I do. This song is about how you feel your side of missing someone and then there's the other person "you're not the only one who's afraid of change" | |
| The Alan Parsons Project – The Cask Of Amontillado Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| what is that supposed to mean? ^ | |
| Jack Johnson – It's All Understood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
good call mclaugbm I recommend Ayn Rand to you. especially her book The Fountainhead but her other books (Anthem, We the Living, and Atlas Shrugged) are excellent as well. I think of her books any time I hear this song. the 1st verse is like when there is someone that nobody likes but they still hang out with them even though they are a jerk. the line "fact and fiction work as a team" is great b/c its saying that in every lie or myth there is some truth. tommy b I'm gonna take what u said about The News a step further. Jack says that he READ somewhere that you can't believe anything that you READ. so the next question you ask is do you believe what you read or don't you? its conflicting but it goes with the rest of the song. But its all relative, even if you don’t understand. Well its all understood, especially when you don’t understand. Well its all just because, even if we don’t understand. Let’s all just believe. I think Jack is being sarcastic when he sings that. To me this song is about questioning your religion. I go to a small Catholic parish where most of the people are very religous and if you ask why about anything they tell you that its just because that's the way it is. They never answer my questions or they side step them. Someone did tell me once that to question is the most important thing and to never stop questioning my faith. I guess some people would judge me as not being a good Catholic b/c I don't always believe everything in line w/ the church (birth control for example) I think that Jack is saying that you should never believe anything just because someone tells you to, even if it is someone like the pope b/c the pope is still human and makes mistakes. this song reminds me of John Lennon's "Imagine" especially the piano. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Get On Top Lyrics | 19 years ago |
dude! who cares how much of a fan you are? we all enjoy the music right? It doesnt matter how much we know about rhcp or how many albums and songs we have does it? I discovered two weeks ago that I was a rhcp fan without even knowing it...songs that I only heard on the radio and loved but didn't know they were by rhcp. I have Californication and What Hits and I like both...I'd like to get stadium arcadium and look into their old stuff a bit. the only song on Californication I dont like is porcelain but thats beside the point. oh yeah, this song is definetly about sex. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| oh ya, and wasn't this on Forrest Gump? | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I heard your voice through a photograph I thought it up and brought up the past Once you’ve gone you can never go back I’ve got to take it on the otherside I think its about someone falling in love and the first time. then breaking up and later finding a picture and remembering that person. the chorus is about not thinking that sex is bad "take it on the otherside" is something that hurts, but there isn't anything he can do about it so he "turns the other cheek" Pour my life into a paper cup The ashtray’s full and I’m spillin’ my guts She wants to know am I still a slut I’ve got to take it on the other side is meeting the first person he loved after sleeping with lots of people and she asks if he still does that...and its kind of offending, but he takes it on the other side Scarlet starlet and she’s in my bed A candidate for a soul mate bled Push the trigger and pull the thread I’ve got to take it on the otherside Take it on the otherside obviously he still does sleep around, but its not a bad thing in his mind, he does it to try to get over his love Turn me on take me for a hard ride Burn me out leave me on the otherside I yell and tell it that It’s not a friend I tear it down I tear it down And then it’s born again sex |

| Modest Mouse – The World at Large Lyrics | 19 years ago |
ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-da. This song was the reason I bought the album. I first heard a friend of mine sing it in high school. When I bought the album and listened to the other songs I ended up loving every single song on the cd. I love the laid back easy going feel of it all. the "floating" feel. The days get shorter and the nights get cold. I like the autumn but this place is getting old... ...The days get longer and the nights smell green. I guess it’s not surprising but its spring and I should leave. love this song peace out |

| Cat Stevens – Where Do The Children Play? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Over-development yes definetly. It's about how we're building skyscrapers, pumping gas, destroying the world, and not thinking about where the children play. Where do the children play? on the ground. If we develop and dig holes to find gas and put pollution in the air and destroy the outside world where the ground is, where WILL the children play? And do children need slot machines to enjoy their summers? We have come a long way and everyday we change more, in some ways its a good thing and in some ways its a bad thing. by the way, Cat Stevens voice is so amazing, it makes songs as serious as this so much lighter, but makes you remember them and keep thinking... |
| Cat Stevens – Moonshadow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I didn't used to like this song because it was like someone imagining all the bad things that could happen to them. But then I looked at it like seeing the best coming out of the very worst. There being enough light to make a shadow. And the part about "Did it take long to find me, I asked the faithful light" is like the person learning to look for good in everything. And that person can see the rare moon shadow, because how often do people see moon shadows? Only once in a while. when the moon gives enough light in the dark, but only if its dark enough. | |
| Cat Stevens – I Think I See The Light Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yes cat stevens definetly added so much to Harold and Maude. I just burned a CD of the compiled soundtrack for my supervisor and he fell in love with cat stevens, but he thinks h&m is a weird movie. anytime I hear any of the songs on the movie I can picture the scenes. my favorite movie ever. | |
| Cat Stevens – Another Saturday Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is such a fun song. I love how even songs that have kind of a sad or serious subject are lighter when cat stevens sings them. | |
| Angels and Airwaves – It Hurts Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its about how its really hard to date your best friend and how if you are dating someone she can't be your best friend just because of how relationships work. that's just a teenage girls perspective... |
| Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Panini Pua Kea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song sounds good, but I wish I knew what it meant. Maybe its better that I don't know the language b/c its just great to listen to what sounds like meaningless sounds that sound good with eachother. That's what music is right? The comprehension of sweet sound is our most indefinite ability. |
| Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Henehene Ko Aka Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It is a fun song. I don't have any idea what it means either, but I like it. | |
| Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – White Sandy Beach Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is so relaxing and, obviously about friendship and love. It's a wonderful, powerful song to me just like everthing else Iz does. | |
| Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Maui (Hawaiian Supa Man) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song! It's great. I'm surprised that there are no comments on it. I really like the way its sung and the story it tells. Is it a Hawaiian folk story, does anyone know? Go Iz! |
| Cat Stevens – I Wish, I Wish Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is so true, I think that we should all ask these unanswerable questions and find the answers. When we have done that, our life will be fulfilled. It would take a lifetime to answer these questions. | |
| Jack Johnson – Better Together Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love Jack Johnson! I haven't listened to barely any of his songs (a few others besides Better Together) but I just heard this one on the radio and I was so amazed! It is a beautiful song. So laid back and easy going and relaxing. The lyrics are great, the music is just amazing. I'm totally buying some Jack Johnson. The first time I ever heard Jack, I was going to a Shakespeare festival with my drama club. Our German exchange student was playing Jack and I was sleeping in the back of the bus. A guy friend of mine came back and we listened to it and fell asleep with each other. It was so relaxing! nothing has ever happened between us but just that once was great. |

| Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about a person who is waiting for someone to get his act together and come to a reality. Be able to tell what is going on around him. Waiting for him to start to think for himself, get out of his cage. He's just waiting "two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl" until the other finds what he's looking for; himself. | |
| Pink Floyd – Vera Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Good song, good song love the emotion in his voice |
| Pink Floyd – Coming Back to Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great, great song. To me, its about a person who thinks for him/her self and is friends with another that doesn't. The free thinker can't get past the fact that the other has only "second hand thoughts" that are mostly lies and the free thinker sees the truth "staring straight into the shining sun". The free thinker sees that he/she needs to have different friends because differences between him/her and the other will keep them apart. So even though its hard to lose the friendship "outside the rain fell dark and slow" the free thinker knows that the other is holding him/her back from what he/she could be or enjoy. The free thinker drops the closed minded friend and is happy he/she did it "I took a heavenly ride trough our silence I knew the waiting had begin And headed straight... into the shining sun ". This song describes my story with a friend of mine who was rather close minded about many things. |

"Just an earth-bound misfit" I like that... |
| Cat Stevens – Father And Son Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I could be way off the mark but I never thought it was a conversation between the father and the son. I always thought the first two stanzas were the father telling his son, and his son ignoring him "when I do he turns away again" and then the last stanza, the father reflecting on himself. The father realizing that he knows he "has to go away" meaning he has to die eventually. | |
| Cat Stevens – If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is my theme song and Harold and Maude is my favorite movie. It is exactly what I'm all about: Learn to live, love and be yourself. | |
| Modest Mouse – Black Cadillacs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I guess what I was saying is that there is not always one correct meaning to every song but there can be several correct meanings. | |
| Modest Mouse – Black Cadillacs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hey, I always thought that anyone could think what they wanted to about the meanings of songs. Who said that there was only one meaning to every song? So many songs have meant so many different things to so many different people and what I use this sight for is to get other people's take on songs and to share what I think the songs mean. And seriously, grow up about the parental advisory label, WHO CARES!!!! Not me. |
| Cherry Poppin Daddies – Zoot Suit Riot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is a fun song, we always play it in pep band. We used to have a sax player and he would shout out "Riot!" in a really high pitched voice at that part of the song. It was really funny. | |
