You can't get the full effect of this song unless you listen to Fear Not of Men right before it on the album. It flows perfectly right into it.
Anywho, truly perfect hip hop right here.
Not only does this song have one of the illest beats in history, Mos absolutely kills throughout the whole song. |

| Marvin Gaye – Let's Get It On Lyrics

This song is clearly about the rigors of Viking life in eighteenth-century Scandinavia. "Getting it on" was Viking slang for the ritual sacrificing of a goat in reverence to the Norse god Odin.
Marvin really chose to emphasize the heartbreak of Viking mothers and wives forced to send their brood off to rape and pillage the English countryside, the line "we're all sensitive people" is a direct reference to a saying passed down through Scandinavian lore (original tongue "Ragnarok yule'woad gwe'lheny") which Vikings uttered moments before plunging their halberds into the chests of farmhands.

That's called sampling, the most widely used technique in rap music production. How can you like PE but hate sampling? There is at least a couple samples in almost all of their songs.
Besides, this sample works perfectly and its only the two notes. It certainly doesn't ruin For What It's Worth, thats ridiculous.
Anyway, this really is a legendary rap song. Everything about this song is perfect, the sample, the rhymes, the beat, the gospel choir and Flav's end-of-song message. |

I always that it was about life in general. There are all these great ideas spinning around in your head that you don't know what to do with, while you live in a place where normality is enforced. It's just the mental suffocation of a creative mind in a shallow world. IMO. |

I'm disgusted as to what some 'people' have posted for this song. Yes he did drugs, who in the 60's didnt? Jimi did NOT perform on drugs. He thought it hampered his performance and detracted from the 'earthiness' of it all. Acid in his headband? WTF? That has myth all over it. The point is, this man lived and ultimately died for something he loved more than anything, music. And you people are being disrespectful to someone who deserves better with all this 'he did drugs' bullshit, yes we know. Have some fuckin respect.
'Ultimate Hendrix Fan', I highly doubt it, just by the songs you listed. Foxy Lady, Purple Haze? Those are the songs of a Hendrix fan who doesnt know any others. |

Hauge, thats not necessarily true. Life is not black and white. If you are not worshipping Christ, that doesn't mean you are worshipping Satan. That doesn't make logical sense. I am a Christian, and that to me sounds retarded. Some people just don't have a relationship with God, doesn't mean their evil. I apologize to everyone for Hauges ignorance. |

This song is absolutely devastating. Especially when Buddy Miles (drummer) sings 'ooooh' around 7:43. It's so chaotic. I just love how he blends Soul, Funk, Blues, and Rock. All my favorites. This is song is awesome and so is Jimi. |

That, I don't agree with. Yes, I know Dylan has said that before. But I think he was fibbing. There is NO possible way that songs like this that dont make any sense yet put such a perspective on life and change peoples viewpoints as it has mine, and taught me to appreciate things more, and slow down and think. There is no WAY this song means nothing. I refuse to believe it. Dylan got this talent from somewhere, its not coincidental. Be it God, Buddha, or a sock lying on the ground. This man was blessed with something very special. It MAY mean 'nothing', but the feelings it conveys and the pure emotion that it invokes IS deep. Thats what I think. :) |
