Fats Waller – Ain't Misbehavin' Lyrics 17 years ago
I can't believe nobody has said anything about this, or any other of Fats Waller's work.

Great pianist, great singer... Full of character. Fats is the man.

Ah, man. This song is fantastic. I saw these guys open for Tokyo Polic Club in Kingston, Ontario back in January... Amazing live energy. They finished with this song, and it's stuck with me since that moment, and is by far my favourite from this wonderful band.

U2 – Promenade Lyrics 18 years ago
This song... Makes me feel at ease with life. I picture walking down old, quiet city streets at night, brightly lit by the moon with my best friends. Reminds me of rooftops, teenage curiosity and naivety. A feeling of contentment comes over me- I just sit back, close my eyes and smile.

Monty Python – Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life Lyrics 18 years ago
Alright- first things first: This is quite possibly one of the catchiest songs EVER written. Great, great song. Taken as is, it's not really that funny. But when you take in account the scene for which it it used in Life of Brian, that's where the song becomes hilarious. I mean, it's just brilliant.

Brad Paisley – Whiskey Lullaby Lyrics 19 years ago
Ehh, I don't get what's so great about this song. It's like all the bad broken heart love song cliches have clashed together in the style of country music (which is horrible enough as it is) to produce a song that reminds me lyrically of something Hanson or the Backstreet Boys would write. Well, it's not like the Backstreet Boys wrote their own lyrics anyways... But you get the idea. Yay for the revival of cheesy mid-90s pop music a la modern day Country.

U2 – Out Of Control Lyrics 19 years ago
I'll Qoute Bono's explanation from Michka Assayas' Bono: In Conversation:

(Interview took place on Bono's 44th birthday)

Michka: In light of the fact that today is a special day, do you have any memories of birthday celebrations way back in Ballymun, when your mother was still alive?

Bono: Oh, I don't seem to remember any. I don't have many memories of my childhood. [Pause] I think I can remember my eighteenth birthday, because I wrote a song on it, called "Out of Control". I remember holding the guitar, my brother's acoustic guitar. The fret action was a little out of whack, and I had to press quite hard on it. It wasn't a great lyrics, but it was like: Monday morning, eighteen years of dawning / I said "How long?," I said "How long?" / It was one dull morning / I woke the world with bawlng / I was so sad, they were so glad / I had the feeling it was out of control. It was just about realizing on your eighteenth birthday that the two big events in your life, which is your birth and your death, you don't have any say over.

Yep.

It's Edge singing it. If you've seen the Rattle and Hum movie, you'll see that it's him. It's a very moving piece.
