The The – This Is the Day Lyrics 18 years ago
This is one of my all-time favorite songs. Later in life, I look at this now not as described above as I may have in my late teens when unsure of my future and piddling about through life.

In fact, I think this guy is quite successful. Has a lot of money. But maybe has lost his youth in his success.

Realizes he's become someone he wishes he wasn't while reminiscing about the past:

"You smile think how much you've changed"

Misses the old days, when life was easier w/o having success, career, responsibilities. He is successful b/c

"All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days"

And "...all your friends and family think that you're lucky"

And he's spent the night not on a bender, but coming to the realization that money isn't everything. And while his friends and family may be envious of his success, it isn't the money that holds him together, "like glue", but rather, his past and themselves.

And the airplane going 'cross the sky is his realization that he will begin a path back to his roots...that money isn't everything, but friends and family are where it's at.

Jellyfish – Bedspring Kiss Lyrics 18 years ago
It actually begins:
"Jimmy, his secrets out"

I love how the opening chords begin sounding like cars moving past a late-night city street -- maybe from outside the open window of a seedy upper-floor hotel where a murder was committed by this Jimmy character on a prostitute...

However, sometimes I think the monkey may be heroin or an aids-infected needle shared between two junkies...

Jellyfish – He's My Best Friend Lyrics 18 years ago
It's fairly clear what picture these lyrics paint. The love affair with one's penis. Too bad Jellyfish isn't a band still. They were one of the most underated pop bands of the 90's.

Morrissey – Everyday Is Like Sunday Lyrics 18 years ago
Morrissey is rarely just literal, however, this is my anthem for living in the tourist trap town of Ocean City, MD in late October/November when this record was released...and driving along the Delaware coast on a cloudy boring day w/nowhere to go and nothing to do while not having much direction in my own life at the time....
