The Stranglers – How To Find True Love And Happiness In The Present Day Lyrics 1 year ago
These lyrics are wrong!

Sheena Easton – 9 to 5 Lyrics 5 years ago
It’s also not by Sheena Easton. This is the Dolly Parton song. 9 to 5 by Sheena Easton was called “Morning Train” in the US to avoid such confusion.

What a load of bol**cks! The UK stopped Conscription over 50 years ago!

Jon and Vangelis – State Of Independence Lyrics 15 years ago
This one really has me stumped...any ideas? I'm presuming quasi-religious stuff. Good song in any case.

Black – Sweetest Smile Lyrics 16 years ago
Great depressing song...not sure what it's about but brilliantly moody and full of doom - think we all feel like that at sometime.

Simon and Garfunkel – Leaves That Are Green Lyrics 17 years ago
I only found out recently that Billy Bragg had nicked the first 2 lines from Paul Simon. An admirer of Mr Bragg as I am, I think these lyrics belong in this song far more than they do in "A New England".
The only criticism I would give is that the music is a little too "happy" for the lyrics, and doesn't give much sense of the mood, which I think should be, at best, melancholy. After all, getting old is pretty depressing!
"Hazy Shade Of Winter" perfectly describes the life process and its music sets the exact scene whereas the music and lyrics seem to contradict themselves in this song.

Joe Jackson – Sunday Papers Lyrics 17 years ago
Well I don't know about that Kfe2, I've listened to my version and it clearly says "mad punk rockers". Dunno if we have different versions or if one or more of us need ear surgery..

The English Beat – Stand Down Margaret Lyrics 17 years ago
I doubt anyone involved in writing this song is embarrassed about it! Thatcher's legacy is an embarrassment to the country!

Run-DMC – It's Like That Lyrics 17 years ago
Ok...Maybe I'm being a little pedantic. but I prefer the original Run DMC (1984) version. The lyrics make more sense in this context, rather than the danced up 90s mix by Jason Nevins. Classic old school rap!

Black Grape – Kelly's Heroes Lyrics 17 years ago
Better lyrics than I could have done Riviera! I'm going with "sink like subs" rather than "sing like surfs" though. Will we ever know? And does it really matter?

Stevie Wonder – Master Blaster (Jammin') Lyrics 17 years ago
Totally agree. I can't believe the lack of posts on all Stevie Wonder's songs. Yes he's done some dodgy tracks, but this (in my opinion) is by far his best. An excellent song. Shame his optimism about Zimbabwe was a little off target.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Cotton Fields Lyrics 17 years ago
This song has been covered by a variety of mainstream artists...from Harry Belafonte to The Pogues and Elton John. Best version in my opinion though was by the Beach Boys (which reached no. 5 in the UK) shortly after CCR had their version out.

The Clash – The Card Cheat Lyrics 17 years ago
Ditto...was always my favourite track save for the title track intro.

The KLF – 3am Eternal Lyrics 17 years ago
P2P malicious? Illegal mostly I agree, and I of course would never condone sharing copyrighted material, but isn't this just the big boy music industry getting its come-uppance? P2P - Power to the people.

The Stranglers – Nice 'N' Sleazy Lyrics 17 years ago
Battersea Park - 1978 I think. A live and fairly infamous performance with several strippers (mostly female, but male too) on stage. Was considered pretty risque and un-pc at the time so god knows what they've think of it now. You should be able to pick up a copy of it somewhere.

A song about Margaret Thatcher. Shame it took her 10 years to get the message.

I think you need to get some lessons in English Mycrustyscabs.

Sex Pistols – Friggin' In The Riggin' Lyrics 18 years ago
The original song is about 150 verses long! This shortened version sung by the god who is Steve Jones. At least he didn't sell out like certain others...

The Stranglers – Peasant in the Big Shitty Lyrics 18 years ago
Love the song...no idea what it's about. Probably JJB on mysterious mind altering stuff (but not garlic) again...

The Stranglers – Bring on the Nubiles Lyrics 18 years ago
Definitely a Hugh Cornwell track! Probably written to aid their notoriety and it certainly worked. Great song either way.

The Stranglers – Ugly Lyrics 18 years ago
One of my favourite Stranglers songs...vaguely offensive and I'm fairly sure JJB would admit it is lyrically meaningless. Still it is a great song.

Great anti war stuff. Lyrics are straightforward enough...work it out!

Sex Pistols – Who Killed Bambi? Lyrics 18 years ago
Girl at the beginning of the film was a Sue Catwoman "look-a-like". This song was a relic of Mclaren's 1st attempt at producing a Sex Pistols film - "Who Killed Bambi" - sung on The Swindle by Eddie Tenpole.

Sex Pistols – You Need Hands Lyrics 18 years ago
A Max Bygraves song wasn't it? Just Mclaren (who admittedly doesn't have THAT bad a voice) filling in a few voids in the film.
