System of a Down – CUBErt Lyrics

if over population is bad, how can organ donating be good?
my thoughts aren't organized yet but...
people are popcorn because they keep expanding. people are canned and everyone's label looks the same but the organs are all different (different blood types and organ shapes ans sizes) but everyone is in a can. or maybe canning people is like canning popcorn and it's going to explode? naw.
personally i find it VERY cliche to complain about people not being individuals. i don't see how you can have so much passion about an issue that has been beaten dead. duh, people like to follow trends. individuality is a trend. |

from what i'm reading people seem to theink it's either about war or it's about insanity, but not both. i think it's about the human tendency toward war and fighting the opposition. |

Nine Inch Nails – Ruiner Lyrics

"now the only pure thing left in my fucking world is wearing your disease"
He's saying it is portrayed as a disease to live life without god and that is purest way because it's the truth to him.
i was thinking about this part too:
"how'd you get so big?
how'd you get so strong?
how'd it get so hard?
how'd it get so long?"
because i noticed it changes from "you" to "it". I think maybe when he says "you" he's talking to the ruiner of his life and when he says " it" he's talking about life. But of course, everyone takes those lines to mean something sexual... because it sounds that way. i think that was just a clever way of getting his point across, it doesn't necessarily MEAN what it sounds like. |

i happen to find insanity attractive. i agree he's not a genius though. everyone does know all of that and i don't think he thinks his statements are like revelutionary or anything. i just think it pisses him off. |

Nine Inch Nails – Suck (Pigface cover) Lyrics

after thinking about it for a while and listening to the song a bunch of more times i sort of think it's more about religion and shit. yeah, i like his religious sarcasm also, and i appreciate it because i was sort of raised to be catholic and then i developed an attitude similar to his. everything i just said was pointless, yet i will continue to say more pointless things. i hate how it is assumed that the reason one is opposed to religions is beauce they are uneducated in the area. i have gone to catholic school for most of my life and i have and am taking a course in which i learn about many different religions, but i passionately oppose all religions. i am not corrupt and i do have morals. i am fogiving of others and i am at peace with myself. i do not need religion. there is not such thing as god. |

Pink Floyd – The Thin Ice Lyrics
|
My theory (entirely my own from listening to the song so it might not make any sense when you read it because my thoughts aren't very organized.):
Going skating on this ice is being compared with being naive about life and just skating along without a care in the world. Going through life hardly aware about the fact that you're on thin ice or maybe even thinking that your thin ice is perfectly supportive and there's no way it would cave in.
In the song when it says "Dragging be hind you the silent reproach of a million tear stained eyes" the million tear stained eyes are all the people that are aware of all the evil. They also could have already been ignorant before and and suddenly fallen through the ice. They also could be the people effected by all the evils like people living in poverty, or even more pertinent with the theme of this whole album, victims of war. By dragging behind the naive skater it means that they are trying to warn him, or stop him. Or they are simply just present and he is not aware and that's why they would be silent. So then the crack in the ice is when the false protection finally gives way and the naive person is bombarded with reality and all the evils of modern society. When it says "You slip out of your depth and out of your mind" it means he will slip out of his understanding, or realize the things that aren't in his depth of understanding. He had formerly only been looking at the surface of his life and the people close to him and now he sees all these other people out there and all these problems he wasn't aware of and he can't comprehend any of it so it drives him insane. "With fear flowing out behind you as you claw the thin ice" He suddenly becomes afraid and tries to cling to the thin ice that had been supporting him for so long. He tried to stay innocent and away from all the scary things he fell into.
I might have left some things out, but i'm interested in hearing what other people think. So say something. |

czar nailed it. some of the things you people said is just embarrassing and it is also evidence of how stupid people are getting. i have no confidence left in any school system now. okay, i'm exaggerating. anyway, just listen to czar because he totally sounds like a history buff. considering his name is Czar which is a russian way of saying caesar and it's the name that Ivan IV ( more commenly know as Ivan the terrible) took on because he believed that russia was the third rome, ect. |
