Per Jars of Clay...
He: (Child abuse, A child's cry)
Ps. 56:3-4, 8-13, Ps. 103:13, Isa. 40:27-31, Matt. 18:5-14, Eph. 6:4, Rev. 7-17
What is the song "He" about?
From the October 1995 issue of CCM Magazine:
"He", from the group's debut album, is based on the book "Death by Child Abuse: the Story of Ursula Sunshine", and a portion of the proceeds from the EP will be donated to The Child Abuse Prevention Center/Exchange Club Family Center of Middle Tennessee. Says lead singer/songwriter Dan Haseltine, "The book really opened my eyes to the shocking reality of child abuse, but in the song we didn't just want to stop there. We wanted to show the hope and healing of Christ." |

Song seems to be about a guy who pretty much blows it with someone he really loves. He never had a chance to tell her so. Now it seems too late. She has slipped away, leaving the guy nothing left to do but plead for one more chance to express how he feels. |

Song obviously about the death of Mary under tragic, but blatant circumstances. The narrator indicates the prejudice against him, and that it seems to play into the fact that he is whom everyone suspects as Mary's killer. However, if you look closely at the last two line of the chorus, he seems to indicate contemplating suicide. Possibly due to a guilty conscience. |

Taken from a the narrator's perspective, it seems to tackle the taboo of an older women dating a younger man. In this case, an employee or intern. It appears the relationship is hot in terms of chemistry; but is being kept secret at the male's request. |

She seems to be into a guy, but coming to grips with the fact that he doesn't feel the same way. She hasn't completely written him off...see the second verse. |

Pretty evident that the guy is obsessed with a celebrity. The first lyrics "I'm outta love, outta luck"...seem to indicate he is obsessed to the point he cannot enter into a tangible relationship with a real person. |

Besides the title, doesn't have a whole lot to do with the movie.
Seems to me to be a coming of age song...as in a generation entering there teens. "Grease" in this case is the buzz word, which represents the generation. You can basically take it out, and replace it to represent Gen X, Baby Boomer, etc. |

Pretty obvious...guy's having an affair. He can't be with her, because he's married. He can't be without her...he digs her way too much. Chorus pretty much sums it up. |
