| Dream Theater – Just Let Me Breathe Lyrics | 11 years ago |

This song doesnt take a shot at Kurt Cobain or Shannon Hoon, but rather the music industry (label, over exposed media coverage). That exploited their image (and minds) to the point that they OD on drugs or shoots themselves. Too much pressure for people who arent in for the money but for the music. All your artistic integrity goes out of the window when the label decides it so. I guess that disagreement and sales were the cause of Elektra (Time-Warner company) dropping them Then we see examples of artist that are fine with the concept of making a product out of their music (all mainstream). Metallica is a great example of it. The transition from the music they had IN them (Kill em All, RtL, AJfA, Black Album), then the label influence (Load, Reload, Garage Inc.) |

| Flying Colors – Shoula Coulda Woulda Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| for some reason I think it's Mike's reflection of leaving DT. He probably realizes that there's no turning back after said "I want a 5 year break". | |
| Flying Colors – Blue Ocean Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This is probably Neal Morse's writing, he's very... hmm let's say religious. This song probably is about the afterlife. paradise. Blue Ocean = Heaven. There's tons of allusions to that... river meets the sea = life meets the eternal life city made of glass = a nice imagery for heaven where our emptiness is gone at last = when we're complete once we meet God. to a world beyond space and time = that sound like a place like Heaven doesnt it? :) Where we never have to say goodbye = we would never have to say goodbye if we are in paradise enjoying eternal life, wouldnt we? Nice uplifting song. |

4• Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. (Reflections of Reality (Revisited)) 5• Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. (Release) |

| Dream Theater – The Glass Prison Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
1• We admitted we were powerless over alcohol — that our lives had become unmanageable. (Reflection) 2• Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. (Restoration) 3• Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. (Revelation) |

| Kelly Clarkson – Because of You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The meaning of the song is pretty obvious (and a lot more obvious with the video). It is about a woman who is having marriage troubles and in the verge of breaking up a family. But at the final moment she remembers that she's seen the same scene when she was a girl witnessing her parents fight and finally splitting up. "You" means her mother, not both parents but her mother. She was shocked by how her mother was crushed after the breakup (crying night after night), how she never had a happy family. The girl is now afraid to let anyone near her (but somehow she got married) because of how her mother suffered. Like traumatized by her childhood. Now after having her flashback, she realizes that she is about to make the same mistake that her mother did and she didnt want her kids to go through the same awful experience of parents splitting up. So she decides to fight for her marriage (that's when in the video she stops her husband from breaking the family photo). I agree with Kelly about not wanting her kids go through the same thing that she did. Many couples in the US decide to break up at the first sign of trouble even though they have kids, and let the kids grow up in a broken home. Im sure I dont want my kids to go through that. But I still think that Kelly is being unfair to her mother. Sometimes love crushes you to the point that you no longer care about life. She has to acknowledge that her mother still was brave enough to raise her alone. She is now the woman she is because of her mother.(But maybe Kelly wasnt satisfied about the woman she was, by the time she wrote the song) Excellent lyrics, brillantly performed by Kelly. It moves me a lot. |

| Spock's Beard – Cakewalk on Easy Street Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I dont know what may it mean but it's a great song. It always cheers me up somehow. How can you not love the Beard? From what I can interpret with my non native english it's about a guy that returned from war. All his friends are gone, he's the only one who survived. Without legs, arms. Very much like Metallica's One but in prog and a very positive point of view. |

| Dream Theater – The Test That Stumped Them All Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| it is about a wannabe rockstar, in losing time/grand finale (deception of fame), you can tell that this was a guy that tried to be a rockstar and he believe he was one. But never really was someone big. I mean maybe he was just in a local band but he believed otherwise. As a rockstar maybe he trashed the place and was someone dangerous. That would be maybe the reason that he was in a mental institution, with shock treatment. | |
| Dream Theater – Sacrificed Sons Lyrics | 20 years ago |

It's about 9/11. Lyrically it wasnt an amazing song, but still good. Because I think that DT as New Yorkers hit them hard (plus I remember that they had as release date the LSFNY with the burning apple and the twin towers also on fire as the cover art for the live album, now how shitty coincidence was that), when you are hit at an emotional degree I think you just need it to let it out. JLB did a good work doing so. How he cannot understand the motives behind 9/11 or fundamentalism in general. My favorite line "Words they preach I cant relate If God's true love are acts of hate". |

| Dream Theater – Panic Attack Lyrics | 20 years ago |

It seems that the song describe someone who suffers paranoia or something like that, similar to "War inside my head" but this time the paranoia appears to be for no reason. BTW great song to hear while driving (speeding) :P \m/ |

| Dream Theater – Scarred Lyrics | 20 years ago |

In a very personal level, I think this song is about God. In several ocassions I think they make reference to a person who could only be God. "You say you want everyone happy Well, we're not laughing" and "And how come you don't understand me? And how come I don't understand you? THIRTY years say we're in this together So open your eyes." Beautiful song btw. I just like how they explain the doubts about God, very similar IMO to "Blind Faith". |

| Dream Theater – Never Enough Lyrics | 20 years ago |

the song is very similar to a post that Portnoy made at the message board of DT. And yes it is about the fans, because no matter what they do, some fans just arent 100% satisfied. For example the setlist for Live at Budokan many people ranted that they didnt liked the setlist, but hey it is impossible to have a set that everyone likes. =S |

| Dream Theater – Only a Matter of Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This song is excellent. From it was the best song in LAB, check it out. Yes, the song was written in the begginings of DT. To me it means that they were a little afraid but they wanted to succed no matter what (brave yet afraid). |

| Dream Theater – Raise the Knife Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song is about the departure of Kevin Moore of DT, probably that's why it wasnt released in the album of Falling into infinity. It seems that Mike Portnoy tried to talk out KevMo from leaving DT, but failed to convince him (I cannot lie, I cannot try anymore to reach you, raise the knife and live my life without you). I can see no other relation than the departure of KevMo. It seems that this song was suppoused to be before Lines in the sand, since outro and intro of the other are very similar. |
