Well, I don't think this is what the song is actually about but every time I hear it it reminds me of my friend, who had (has?) a drug problem. Now I know every song isn't about drugs and it's said on nearly every song...but it's only what it means to me. I think "The Gift" is actually referring to a girl, who left him because her parents didn't like him - a girl who he really loved. "I don't belong here and I'm not well....I'm so ashamed of this lie I'm living...right on wrong side of it all" That really reminds me of my friend's drug use, and of the girl, because it sounds like he's telling her he's sorry for doing that awful shit to his body and that he's ashamed of it but it's his way of dealing with things. |

To me, this sonf kind of tells a story. I don't think it's really meant for that - that's only what it means to me. The story is about a couple that were really, truly in love, but there were som many problems that they had that almost forced one of them to leave. (the girl). When she comes back years later, completely changed, he has to make up his mind whether he still loves her and once he discovers he does, they have to figure out whether to try to make it work. Heh heh, sorry if that's a little complicated |

I think this song is just about life, and how people play games with each other. It sounds almost like a challenge to an enemy, telling them where he stands. In some ways I can see how this could be about drugs, but I think the "I was spinning free....whoa....with a little sweet and simple numbing me" is just an analogy to the sweet parts of life, while "Stumble til you crawl" might reference to making mistakes in life and still going on. |

I think this song has a lot to do with alchohol addiction. The boy is trying to break up with his girlfriend because he sees so many things wrong with himself; it breaks his heart to see her go but the "suicidal hate" is going to hurt her and he knows it. It reminds me a lot of my dad, who had an alchohol addiction. |

I really like this song. The second verse seems like it could be about Hell, about giving up on God. (I'm actually Christian - some people who know the bad part of me would be surprised) But the rest seems to just sort of be about life, and struggling to keep head above water - almost like what's wrong with society. ("I'm just the way that the doctor made me"). |

Most Creed songs hit very close to home now, for me. I've dealt with being suicidal, with feeling there's nothing left. The feeling of being "On my knees", and yet, wanting people I know to have better...and also, a strong message in here seems to be "It hurts....but there is better." |
