I can't believe nobody's picked up the fact that this song is at least partly related to the play (later made into a film) called 'Look Back in Anger'- this is where the reference to Sally comes from (who is one of the characters). It is about disaffected northern youth and the fading prospects of young northern people, part of a great series of writing at that time. Noel has probably taken the idea (and title) from that and combined it with other things, namely the John Lennon quotes etc... Typical Oasis combinations!!! Absolute anthem though. |
