RyanWilhite: It's been 2 years so you've probably figured this out by now. But just in case, the sample is from Beneath the Planet of the Apes.

Refused – Return to the Closet Lyrics

allaboutlyrics: the "closet" is a metaphorical term for the place where homosexuals who are in denial of their sexuality reside. to "come out of the closet" is to publicly admit to your sexuality. i'd say that to "return to the closet" in this context would be to return to hiding your orientation from the general public, as homosexuality is still largely frowned upon. |

so i finally just picked up remission, and just listened to that track for the first time ever (though i've heard lots of other tracks off remission in the past). i have to ask, was that a sample of the t-rex from jurassic park at the beginning?! so awesome. |

Bloc Party – She's Hearing Voices Lyrics

okay so i have to come here to geek out about how awesome this song is. the beat is so awesome, the vocals sound almost goth at points, the guitar is off the fucking wall, and the guitar part during the second 'red pill blue pill' chant gets me so stoked on life i can't even stand it. oh god this song makes me want to dance. i love this band. |

Botch – Afghamistam Lyrics

yeah, in my mind i can see this as the background music for a scene in a film as the world falls apart on itself in slow motion, with all existence flickering out at the last second. absolutely terrifying. |

Modest Mouse – Workin' on Leavin' the Livin' Lyrics
| 18 years ago

i agree that this song is about waiting to die. if you look at it like that it kind of sums itself up...
but tonight i pulled from this song a personal interpretation that is sort of a back and forth conversation between someone i care about deeply, and myself. i won't go into details though.
my favorite thing about these lyrics is the part
"loved you more than everything
loved it more than anything
loved everything more than anything"
i see "you" as being, the person he cares about. and "it" is life as a whole experience. and "loving 'everything' more than 'anything'" in this context is a way of reiterating that he loves her more than life itself. |
