I think it's "stepping along the hum of the sidewalk, a marionette a slave." I'm very sure actually. And I also think it's "with your tempo one beat less than the others and three times more at fault".

Hmm. Upon listening to that part over and over, I think you're right. Thanks. I'm changing that now.

The Essex Green – Rue de Lis Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the a couple lines are a little off. I'm almost postive he's saying "Never spent his money, not a nickel or a frank", and "Wouldn't trust his sister any more than the bank". Oh yeah, and I think he's saying "Hearing from the lightman's house up on 43".

I think he's saying 'and a terot in my hand' instead of 'terror wind by hand'. Like, a terot card, I guess.

I'll try and get them up soon. It's hard to tell what she's saying sometimes, but I think I've got most of it understood. ;)

It's about the stresses of city life. That's kind of what their whole new album is about, but the songs bring it out in different ways.

The Essex Green – The Big Green Tree Lyrics 18 years ago
This is definately about being a low-profile artist. He just wants to make music, and not become all famous. Hence, why The Essex Green are so indie. xD

Simple. Conflicting ideas of where to stay. The couple argues about it, but they work things out in the end.

The Essex Green – Mrs. Bean Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about a woman who shelters her daughter from the real world. And when the daughter finally gets out into the realy world, 'it's like thunder outside'. It hits her suddenly that not everything is perfect like her mother made it up to be.

This song is so cute! It's great for all cat lovers. I love the line, 'And you've got so much love, you bring it home in bundles of blood'. I can relate to that, having two cats myself.

I think this song's about a boy and a girl meeting on a golf course. Very simple...

Heh, maybe it's about the morning after partying. The first verse sounds like he has a hangover. O_O

I think this song is about the predictableness, and unpredictableness of life. One moment, it's all the same, every day, the same. Another, it's completely different.

OR, it could be about a guy who's been infatuated with a girl. He's saying the great things that happen, and how everything is mixed up.

Oops. Typos. NIGHTS. Not 'nighta'. xD

The Essex Green – Chartiers Lyrics 18 years ago
Okay, I think there are a couple mistakes here, Miss Rachel. ;) The last line I'm pretty sure is, 'The nighta are darker without you here'. Also, I think 'Was it you that I fimed?' should be, 'Was it you that I fell, upon?'. Not sure what Sasha sings in the background at that part, though.

I think this song is about a girl who is not taking a relationship as seriously as her partner. She wants it to be casual, 'off and on', so to speak. But, the boy is really in love with her, and wants her to see that. He knows her better than anyone else, and he'll take her back no matter how many times she leaves him.

Oh yeah, 'shouted out your heartache nearly every night' probably refers to prayers that go unanswered.

Aha! I think I've figured out what this song is about. Or, I have a general idea. Perhaps it is about searching for the right religion. That's what I get out of it. 'Church on every corner', too many choices, she's 'shrinking down to size', overwhelmed with all of the different teachings. Makes sense to me. I wish more people would post their comments about The Essex Green. They're an awesome band.

Also, I'm not sure about the 'I'd wheelie in the sky' part. It's hard to tell if that's what they're saying. O_O

Nice double post, Rachel. ^_^ I have a completely different opinion about this song. I think it's about being famous, and never getting a break. 'Now, what will they say?', might refer to the press. Also, 'Wrapped up in a New York magazine', makes that sort of reference. 'Let me down slow' and 'Even giants have to watch how they decline', might refer to slowly disspearing from the radar. Not being popular anymore. Of course, I may be completely wrong. ;)

I'm pretty sure these are right...I'm not exactly sure what it means, but it's a cool song. If there are any mistakes, feel free to let me know.

The Essex Green – Julia Lyrics 18 years ago
This is a very sweet song. I'm assuming it's talking about a girl who has depression, or something like that, and he's consoling her. It's pretty direct, really. He's telling her not to give up, that everything she needs is right there and that only she has the power to really fix what's going on...whatever that is...
