| Broken Bells – Holding On for Life Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
It sounds to me like it's about a lonely girl, from the perspective of a guy who knows her, and watching her living her life and being unhappy. It sounds like he just wants to understand the girl if she opens up to him. |
|
| Chumbawamba – Sewing Up Crap Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
What an awesome song. I think it is about modern society, and the distance it puts between us, people are "expected" to act in a certain way when interacting. And the ones who benefit from all of this are the media, who portray the "acceptable" interactions between people. |
|
| Smash Mouth – Holiday In My Head Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Nobody's commented on this song? This one is awesome, come on guys. And it's clearly about being on drugs. |
|
| The Kinks – Destroyer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think the reason the other songs are revisited is they're all tied together by the paranoia. This is basically saying every moment always had that lingering paranoid psychosis. It's the feeling that something is wrong, or you are being watched, all of the time. His paranoia is like a time bomb, waiting to overwhelm him at any moment. |
|
| Fats Domino – Blue Monday Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
How does this song have 0 comments in 2011? This is a classic, just about a hard working man who appreciates the simpler things in life, like his woman and his money, and understands that his hard work pays off every saturday. It's really a sweet song.. |

| Pink Floyd – Hey You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| @bguy6767 Try Hallucinogenic Fungus (Mushrooms) | |
| Adelitas Way – Brother Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think R0ckPsycho nailed it 100%. And Adelita's way is a fantastic band, I don't know why they're not higher rated. | |
| Theory of a Deadman – Deadly Game Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is a great song, to me it sounds like just living life without being afraid of being judged, but don't be surprised when it's the end and everything is screwed up in your life. | |
| Pearl Jam – Off He Goes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The first poster hit the nail on the head. Incase anyone doesn't agree, read the following: "It's also notable to point out that in a Pearl Jam performance in Katowice, Poland on June 16, 2000, Eddie Vedder says before starting the song "this is about being friends with an asshole", and right after he makes the statement he points at himself." |
|
| Pearl Jam – Brother Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Greets guys. The lyric version can actually be heard here: "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLeoi06_G5g". The acoustic version is awesome, but so is the lyrical version. The lyrics at the top are incorrect, the link has the correct lyrics subtitled as the song plays. I agree with the above posters, it's about government. "In the closet, my pleasures, cause my big brother just don't want to let me be." |
|
| Pearl Jam – Daughter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Have to agree, Dyslexia. | |
| Pearl Jam – Leatherman Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Yes, this song is not a part of the Mamasan Trilogy. Mamasan Trilogy: Alive, boy looks like his biological father and his mother molests him. Once, after being molested, it screws the boy up and he grows up and turns into a serial killer. Footsteps, man is on death row. I have heard someone mention the "Man Trilogy" (Betterman, leatherman, nothingman) although I don't think there is any sort of connection. Possibly. But I know that betterman was written about his stepfather and mother. |

| Chris Cornell – When I'm Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I listen to this song when I get depressed. Believe me, it helps. | |
| Beck – The Golden Age Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I listen to this in the mornings to wake up. This and "Speed Kills" by Bush, and "Remedy" by Black Crowes. | |
| Beck – Mixed Bizness Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| How dare you shame beck's forums by comparing him to Ben Folds. | |
| Audioslave – Getaway Car Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The Actual Lyrics: The first time I saw you you were chasin' down A cyclone all alone in the field With railyards and clovers, I kept rollin' on Never thought you'd wind up chasin' me Settle down I won't hesitate To hit the highway Before you lay me to waste, no Saddle up and I'll help you find something to drive Before you drive me insane You're tired of walkin' And you loathe the ground The sidewalk will barely touch your feet Life moves too slowly to hold you down With ring in hand you take it out on me Settle down I won't hesitate To hit the highway Before you lay me to waste no Saddle up and I'll help you find something to drive Before you drive me insane So get yourself a car And drive it all alone Get yourself a car And ride it on the wind Get yourself a car And drive it all alone Get yourself a car And ride it on the wind Settle down I won't hesitate To hit the highway Before you lay me to waste no Saddle up and I'll help you find something to drive Before you drive me insane So get yourself a car And drive it all alone Get yourself a car And ride it on the wind Get yourself a car And drive it all alone Get yourself a car And ride it on the wind |
|
| Beck – Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| He's not singing "Cyanide girl". Call him and ask him. | |
| The Black Crowes – She Talks To Angels Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Whoever said that the Black Crowes were the pioneers of emo, you need to go die in a fire. Now. But yes, this song has alot of spiritual meaning. It's about a young girl on the wrong path, trying to rationalize everything in her life to be circled around angels, possibly witchcraft, and just living on what we "normals" consider the wrong side of the tracks. I also believe that the Remedy is a sequel to this song. |

| Jessica Simpson – I Think I'm in Love with You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| PS: Anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, go listen to "Jack and Diane" | |
| Jessica Simpson – I Think I'm in Love with You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Try NOT stealing John Cougar Mellencamp's music next time Jessica. | |
| George Thorogood – Get A Haircut Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| No one commented because it's so self explanatory. | |
| David Bowie – Something in the Air Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| When I heard it, I thought it was about Angela Bowie. | |
| Audioslave – #1 Zero Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Sequel to the worm maybe? | |
| Soundgarden – Kingdom of Come Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it's about paranoia, or maybe assumptions of infidelity. My interpretation is this: Chris Cornell's girlfriend is being told by someone else that Chris might be cheating on her, and she confronts him. | |
| Soundgarden – Cold Bitch Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Or mailman. | |
| Soundgarden – Cold Bitch Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Hah, you think THIS is vehement? Go look up "All your lieS" | |
| Soundgarden – Smokestack Lightning (Howlin' Wolf cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| He also hits very high notes in Slaves and bulldozers, New damage, and Power Trip (Especially). | |
| Pink Floyd – Brain Damage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Yes, there are references to Syd Barret in this. The same can be said for ANY floyd song! He started the band, I'd think it a little strange if there wern't. You could spin it in a million different directions, Syd, Thoughts about the band breaking up, Etc. But personally, I think this is about something more than Syd. What, you may ask? I have no idea. Syd wasn't insane like this song suggests, he was just... acting very strange. He never played onstage, he just kind of walked around. He wasn't kicking ass and taking names, or acting truly looney tunes. By the way, if you want to hear them talk about Syd, go listen to "Wish you were here". |
|
| Beck – Diamond Dogs (David Bowie cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| That's because bowies was concert. But beck did a really great job. | |
| Lou Reed – Vicious Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| What in the hell is wrong with you lou reed? | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Slipping Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Has anyone noticed that this is exactly like Into the Void? | |
| Soundgarden – Drawing Flies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Maybe sneaky jellyfish meant The last song he wrote IN THE CABIN, not wrote period. | |
| Soundgarden – The Day I Tried to Live Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Why bother getting up in the morning and trying to do the right thing when it's just going to backfire and blow up in your face? | |
| Soundgarden – Limo Wreck Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'll be going down for the rest of the RIDE Not slide. It's a limo wreck! What kind of Limo has a slide in it? -_- |
|
| Pearl Jam – Green Disease Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| You can't base an entire song's meaning on two lines of there's plenty more lines to analyze. This sounds alot more political than anything else. | |
| Lo Fidelity Allstars – Battle Flag Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
How dare you call this song techno. The australian version - The beginning sound and Lo-Fi singer's voice is deeper. |
|
| David Bowie – Magic Dance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's amazing how many people comment on this and how few comment on the beginning and ending version, Underground. | |
| Soundgarden – Overfloater Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I've done some serious research on this song and the correct lyrics are "Breathe and take it in and gently blow it out" "Drink it down and swallow hard and gaze" |
|
| Beck – Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Audioslave – Show Me How to Live Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Roaadking, I know you probably found those lyrics on a different lyric site but listen to the song. Those are NOT the lyrics to the song. | |
| Soundgarden – Mind Riot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I have to disagree with this being about andrew wood. I have no doubts that all bands made some sort of tributes to him, but Cornell had already done the temple of the dog project (An entire tribute album to Andrew Wood). | |
| Audioslave – Hypnotize Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
The reason I don't think you are correct hastlavictoria is because of these lyrics: "But if you want to live To see the morning Give it up to your brother Or you'll get a surprise" He's basically saying "Spread the wealth or I'll kill you". Anyone Amoral enough to kill someone over money isn't going to spend that same money on his fellow human beings. Look at Robin Hood, he stole from the rich too but he didn't kill anybody. |
|
| Audioslave – Show Me How to Live Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It is "Nail in my head", Johnman987. Songmeaning lyrics aren't always correct. | |
| Soundgarden – Blow Up the Outside World Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Would you people please stop making Black Hole Sun references? Don't make that song any more over-hyped and over-played than it already is. It was a good song until every single alternative radio station across the US decided to play it every 5 minutes. | |
| Audioslave – Be Yourself Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It's a love song. Sort of... | |
| Audioslave – The Curse Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I must say this is my favorite audioslave song. Long live Chris Cornell! | |
| Soundgarden – Rhinosaur Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I took more of a religious interpretation from it, IE: Satan. | |
| Soundgarden – Superunknown Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| At the end, you can tell he's saying "Alive". Towards the begining, it's more difficult to tell. | |
| David Bowie – Changes Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| saturnalia9 actually, if you listen carefully he says "Turn and face the strange changes" the "ge" is very faint but with the volume up you can hear it. | |
| Soundgarden – New Damage Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I believe this song is about world chaos, world war three. Get out of the countries going into the war before you're killed. "A faceless poison" means that the person/country that starts the turmoil will not be suspected until it's too late. "A new world for hate" is because the countries in in each side will hate the other side. Basically it's saying go somewhere neutral before you're caught up in hell. | |
