The Wombats – Let's Dance To Joy Division Lyrics 16 years ago
Vomit-tastic. They don't even deserve to mention Joy Division. The Wombats make me sick.

Apparently, it's about a whore that the band once met.

The Boyfriends – Once Upon a Time Lyrics 17 years ago
Why are there no comments on the boyfriends yet?!
They're blatantly one of the most talented bands of the 21st century!

The lyrics to this song are anout a relationship that is falling apart.

And it's "what do you see in HIM"!!!

Lou Reed – Perfect Day Lyrics 18 years ago
OK people...it may sound like its about a relationship, however, that is a METAPHOR for the "relationship" with heroin. People said it was about heroin BEFORE trainspotting came along, and Lou said himself that it was about heroin.

Just as "there she goes" by the Las is about heroin but written as if it was about a person.

The Who – Dr. Jimmy Lyrics 18 years ago
The way that the "is it me" bit contrasts with the rest is supposed to reflect Jimmy's 2 personalities refered to in the song.

Oh, and "doctor Jimmy and mr Jim" is a reference to "dr jeckl and mr hyde", a story about a man who has 2 personalities, a good guy and a monster.

The Who – 5:15 Lyrics 18 years ago
Actually nagromnai, jimmy doesn't commit suicide at the end of the film. remember that seemingly pointless bit before the film where he's walking AWAY from the cliff?!?!
Not many people notice it though.

The Smiths – A Rush and a Push and the Land Is Ours Lyrics 18 years ago
"everyday is like sunday" has absolutely NOTHING to do with war! it is about one of those seaside towns (very much like the one i live in) that is now pretty empty.

"a rush an a push..." also has nothing to do with Vietnam, and actually comes from something once said by Oscar Wilde's mum.

The Smiths – Wonderful Woman Lyrics 18 years ago
the idea that it's about linder stirling is much more obvious in "miserable lie" but i still think it's quite likely that this song is as well.

The Smiths – Sheila Take a Bow Lyrics 18 years ago
i don't agree with the "boy and girl in love" idea because i think the line "come out and find the one that you love and who loves you" refers to the idea that she should get out a bit more and find someone to go out with and , well basically, get a life really!!!

Also, the line "how can someone so young sing words so sad" is a lot like "the girl least likely to" because the girl in that song is also a young, female, singer/songwriter and quite possibly a female counterpart of morrissey.

Morrissey – The Girl Least Likely To Lyrics 18 years ago
actually, i think this song could quite possibly have been written about me (if morrissey was psychic).

The Smiths – Girl Afraid Lyrics 18 years ago
you know, PRUDENCE could be the name of the girl who never PAYS for anything or it could be thet the boy is PRUDENT and that it could never end well. or that could just be me being strange again......

The Smiths – Cemetry Gates Lyrics 18 years ago
is "GRAVEly read the STONES" a pun on GRAVESTONES? and is morrissey a bit of a hypocrite to tell you not to plagiarise when half his lyrics are taken from some poem or other?!?!?

The Smiths – Bigmouth Strikes Again Lyrics 18 years ago
you know, the walkman wasn't invented in 1431(oh and jcase918, the cure have never had a number 1 hit so you are very much mistaken).

The Smiths – Back to the Old House Lyrics 18 years ago
i love this song because it's lyrics are clever but so simple at the same time. but as practically everyone has said before, the acoustic one is so much better

The Smiths – Accept Yourself Lyrics 18 years ago
er...kilby, don't you find it strange how this song is telling people that they should accept themselves when at the same time this was written , morrissey was doing the exact opposite!?!?!

The Smiths – Frankly, Mr. Shankly Lyrics 18 years ago
Most people don't get the line:

"i want to catch something that i might be ashamed of"

because it's about STDs and they think "well, who would want to catch an STD" but actually it's about being so deperate for a partner of any kind that they couldn't care less where they've been before.

submissions
The Smiths – You've Got Everything Now Lyrics 18 years ago
i think the line "you are your mothers only son" refers to the two people in the song (the singer and the one he's singing about) being brothers but the rich sucessful one is their mothers only son in her eyes

The Smiths – Girlfriend in a Coma Lyrics 18 years ago
i think this songs pretty obvious and self explanitory and you're all reading way to deeply into it.

The Smiths – This Night Has Opened My Eyes Lyrics 18 years ago
i was told it was about a girl who was raped (which explains the line "you kicked and cried like a bulied child") and ended up pregnant but couldnt get an abortion so after she gave birth she drowned the baby because she knew she couldn't look after her. But, then again, i could be wrong.
