The fact that there are no comments on this beautiful song is absurd and really an indication of how unfairly forgotten Judee is. |

it is in fact 'Schweppervescence', a word invented by Schwepps beverages in an old advertising campaign. to mean essentially the same thing as Effervescence but with the Schwepps factor. |

the performance of this at the pinkpop festival in 1987 is pretty much the best thing that ever happened in music. Without a doubt the most impassioned vocal performance I've ever heard. Mould sounds like he just found out his mum had died or something. |

the last verse is by Yaki Kadafi, not Kastro. anyone else think he was one of the most underrated rappers around? certainly the best of the outlaws. shame he went he same was as pac. This line is incredible -
"True that, only one life to lead, a fast life of greed
Criminally addicted, infested since the seed
We all die, breed bleed like humans, towns run
by young guns, Outlawz and truants"
the infested since the seed part is brilliant. |

how can there be no comments on this song? true beauty. to quote paraphrase William Carlos Williams "poets are not blind, they see through the eyes of the angels". since Frank was blinded by a pellet gun in the 80s this seems more poignant. there's something strangely magical about this song and indeed the album of the same name. |

amazing that Ian could go from the raw, frenetic unharnessed energy of Minor Threat to this. Its so fragile and delicate sounding that it genuinely sounds like a suicide note. Ian excels himself on vocals here. Did he play the piano too? |

absolutely great song from smile from the streets you hold. Probably my favourite off the record. Don't really know what its about but it features River Phoenix on vocals. |

who said funk bands had to make dumb party music? this is like a dylan-esque protest song but with a certain "black" kinda soul. I love this song |

This is like the sequel to crown of thorns. Xana Lafuente says that Crown... was written about a short-term break up with andy because of his addiction. He couldn't accept her ultimatum to get off the drugs. This song was written afterwards I believe and he is saying "ok I do need you to help me kick" |

absolutely amazing. such a beautiful song. also (and I'm not a christian I just happen to know this passage) there is a passage in revelations in the bible that the whole "divine glory, the expression, the knees bowed the tongue confesses, the lord of lords, the king of kings" part is taken from. I cannot remember the actual wording but it revolves around the gates of heaven being guarded by a masked rider on a white horse whose legplate bears the name "Lord of lords, king of kings" |

| Tool – 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2) Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
TREXOR I actually respect how disliking a Tool album must feel if you are a huge fan. God knows I'd be distraught if I didn't like 10,000 Days, but I can't help thinking (and I'm not insulting you here) that maybe you need to be a little more open-minded to change. This song at least is, in my opinion of course, a masterpiece. It genuinely moves me. I fail to understand how it doesn't do the same for you although it's your choice whether or not you like it.
I do have one request though. Assess these ongs negatively if you must but please do not commit the mistake of saying they are BAD songs when they clearly are not. Is it not possible that they are just not to your taste? Don't take this as a childish rant as some of these posts have been. I just genuinely believe that you are approaching this album in a way that is making you miss the point. |

| The Anti-Psychotic Budweiser Combination – Making Out In Oldham Lyrics

|
This is a cool unsigned duo so they don't have any official releases but you can check out some of their music on their myspace page, www.myspace.com/theantipsychoticbudweisercombination
The song is basically about youth and how it's spent. Not exactly poetry but it's not meant to be. It says what it needs to say in the most simple way and "we're making out in oldham and we're young today" pretty much says it all. |

Its about religious exploitation for monetry gain, ie the indulgences and relics sold by catholic "preachers" in pre-reformation europe to buy you way out of purgatory, hence the lyrics about wooden jesus', porcelein mary's and coathanger halos that don't come cheap. |

"And you must change patterns all we trained
Or n'er regain peace you seek

I'm not sure what this song is about but that last line makes me feel so sad. Inner peace is the one thing Layne could not find. |

this is a pre-Pearl jam eddie vedder song, possibly his band bad radio. I dont think it as about tourette's syndrome though. I think it is eddie's view on is abusive childhood from his perspective when he was a child as opposed to an adult who knows the truth and doesn't try to sugar-coat it. |

also the line is"double-think, dumb is strength" not "dont think", double think being the famous psychological repression of psychopaths so that they do not disgust themselves with their actions. they turn it into a positive. This si eddie saying tha gun owners trick themselves into thinking they carry a gun for protection. |

there i no "think" about, Eddie says on the unplgged version "that was a little love song I wrote about my surfboard... no actually its for someone named beth who hopefully i'll see tomorrow" This also shows it is before he broke up with her. |
