I dont know about that VelveteenDoll, Courtney's biography indicated that this song dated at the time of Frances being taken away. You would have to agree with that judging by the lyrics. If it was written in the 80s, Courtney must be psychic! Also, I doubt Kat Bjelland wrote this as it sounds very 'Courtney' - talking about roses, milk, etc - Courtney mentions that a lot in Live Through This songs... |

i think that 'he keeps you in a box by the bed' refers more to the fact that jennifer is there at 'his' disposal whenever he wants - he is in a position to control jennifer - ''he cuts you down from the tree''. dont hink this is about jennifer finch, and i dont think it necessary refers to rape/sexual abuse... but who knows with courtney's lyrics??? |

Torrance21, your opinion of courtney is based on incorrect facts, and I dont think you should offer it to anyone as people may actually misinterpret what you are saying as correct. In fact, Kurt didn't have much to do with the writing of Live Through This - though obviously Courtney worte a lot of songs about him on it - doll parts IS one of them. When two musicians live together, it is pretty obvious that each will influence the other... what is sos urprising or wrong about that? Coutnry co-wrote or was an inspiration for a couple of Nirvana songs too. Kurt was mainly involved with the musical side of Live Through This - he did back-up vocals on a couple of tracks.
Billy Corgan did not play any real part in writing the lyrics of Celebrity Skin. He helped arrange the music in 4 songs only. He assisted Hole her for like a week, and encouraging them to explore their interest in pop music (which is why Celeb Skin is a bit more mainstream - Courtney loved bands like Fleetwood Mac).
If you knew anything about Kurt, you would know that he was the one that left his wife and daughter alone in this world through his suicide - what does that say for his parenting? Courtney was clean throughout the pregnancy and throughout Frances' early childhood, Kurt encouraged her to take drugs, and in later years she did so for him (though she had been heavily involved with drugs in her youth).
If you know anything about the media, you would know that the majority of it is incorrect, or at least exaggerated. I wouldnt believe much of eht you read in the new, magazines (esp not Rolling Stone, who have generally attempted to crucify Courtney throughout her career).
Claiming that Courtney is talentless is ludicris... Hole was a more successful band than Nirvana before Nevermind. She writes all of their songs, the lyrics of which are some of the best you will hear from any band. If you took the time to read up on her life and what she has been through since her childhood you would understand that she has shown great strength in being able to have a successful career. She has worked very hard to make ends meet for most of her life, and still works rd to support her child. She is a single mother whose husband commited suicide - how do you think that would leave you? |

ilikefood, malibu was referring to the Hole lyric in 'reasons to be beautiful' (where courtney says "rise", not "burn out")... why do you have to be so rude on this forum??? |

yeah, bruiseviolet, that is something that i noticed too, courtney also seems to mention angels, heaven, petals, etc a lot in her songs (and across all her albums). It really annoys me when people say that "Kurt wrote Live through this" and "Billy Corgan wrote Celebrity Skin" - when clearly these words are Courtney's. |

1990? Ummm no - I believe it was 1994, and it was suicide (tell all your Kurt friends that too..). You think ur a Kurt Cobain fan but you have just shown how little you know about him or his wife. Thats what annoys me so much about all the Kurt fans - they are quick to diss Courtney (btw I enjoy both of their music - but prefer Courtney and Hole over Nirvana), when they haven't got the slightest clue about her life or what she has been through. She was not just a male, I have seen you write that on this site before - stop it before some people start to believe you... Courtney's mother was called Linda, though she doesn't have much to do with her (since her early childhood). Get your facts straight... |

This is a very moving song. i persnally believe that Courtney Love is one of the best lyricists in the ever - and she is an intelligent and talented person (regardless of what you think of her antics). The funny thing about writing about what shemeans in her songs is that she has said in numerous interviews that it is nobody's business what she feels or is writing about. It is obvious that many of her songs are about Kurt (this might not necessarily be one of them though..), he was her husband afterall... but why do people insist on this site and others that she killed her own husband who wrote a suicide note, injected himself with heroin and shot himself in the head. If you are the Kurt Cobain fans that you say you are you would know thta he was a suicidal person, he attempted to take his life on a number of occasions. Those stupid theories about Courtney killing him have been totally thought up by Hollywood ("Kurt and Courtney" - that stupid movie where people who were supposedly 'close' to the two thought up some stupid conspiracy theory - including Courtney's father who she doesn't get along with and who abadoned her as a child... he's not 'close' to her at all!). Courtney has had the most extraordinary life, read her biography, there is little wonder why she is in trouble with drugs, etc - she is doing well to be alive with everything that she has been through since her childhood. Remember that she is an INCREDIBLY intelligent individual - for you to say that you 'hate' her when you really know nothing about her is a reflection on your own self and ignorance. I love both Courtney and Kurt - they are both highly talented and amazing individuals and icons of rock - stop abusing them on this website. |
